continuation from the locked game thread....

dude totally deserves a spot on the roster next year as a bench player. ST invite at the very least.

Couldn't agree more, he might even win the third base job if they give him a chance

this is what ive been saying for months.

what he did in seattle was not a fluke. he had 3 very solid seasons there.

Lopez has already said he wants to go somewhere to play everyday. Dont remember where I saw it or i would link it. Im not expecting him to be back.

Jose Lopez is not good, stop saying he is. His three "solid" seasons were sub .800 and in his 5 seasons he was under .700 twice.

The two seasons with 60 XBHs for a 2B were solid. Don't kid yourself.

He'd be nice to have off the bench next year.. don't want him as a starter.

His 2008 season was sort of legit, but he still sucks overall.

Lopez is the type of hitter I hate: low OBP, but teams keep him around because he can hit a home run now and then. His 2008 season was somewhat respectable because he had a .322 OBP (which still isn't that great overall), while he's typically a sub-.300 OBP guy. He makes a ton of outs.

Having said that, the Marlins should consider him next year because their depth is embarrassing.

No they weren't he doesn't get on base. His 2008 was his "big" offensive year and his BABIP was 30 points higher than normal.

he not an on base guy but he can hit for power, doubles, and does not strike out a lot at all.

and hes 27, he will not want to come off the bench.

his few homers here lately probably only stand out because the rest of the offense has been putrid.

pass.

Nothing wrong with bringing him back as a bench bat.

Bring him and Dobbs back as bench bats. That's it.

I think we should bring him back and give him a shot to win the job. Who do we currently have that is alot better?

The team is actually spending money this offseason.

Ramirez (Hanley or Aramis) are a lot better.

One thing is for sure; we're not going to see too much of him till the end of the year. The team is probably hoping that Matt Dominguez ends up with a flukey good stat line in a couple meaningless starts, so they can convince themselves it means more than another underwhelming year in the minors.

You would rather Lopez get those starts?

I'd like it to see Lopez getting more PT than he is, not necessarily playing all of the time or even most of the time over Dominguez, but still more than right now. He is still an infielder in the prime of his year who, while he is definitely at rock bottom the last two years, was still an all-star caliber hitter at one point.

Why would you like to see him getting more playing time than he is? Are you concerned about winning the last few games? Do you think there's something Jose Lopez can show us in the last 8 games of the season that the previous 951 in his major league career haven't?

I know you will look for any reason at all to criticize the organization, but this is really dumb. There are roughly 35 PAs remaining from the 3B position this year. What kind of split would be appropriate for you to not be critical for once?

He has been instrumental, and deserves a spot next season.

.254 on-base percentage. He doesn't deserve bleep.
