my intuitions were correct. frisaro reported 2yrs/8 million.

Actually, your intuitions were wrong. Mine were right.

i was actually thinking maybe 2yr/10 million.

Without investigating comparable contracts, that just "feels" a little high to me. I would feel better about 2/8 or 3/12, but I'm not sure.

typo yo.

lol no tonight a number just popped into my head and i figured 8 million.

You're the guy who gets "feelings," too, right?

This ensures that Bonifacio will be our starting centerfielder.

Bonifacio obviously deserves to have a big role next year, and there's no way that any of the other CF options deserve a spot over him. If we see Coghlan or Peterson trotted out opening day while Bonifacio sits the bench in a supersub role, I'll be mad.

I doubt we will.

We have one more hole to fill, and that's third base. I'm pretty sure that will be Aramis Ramirez. After that, we focus on starting pitching.

can't help it...

lol gaby sanchez wasnt exactly "mr. rbi sniffer" this year.

mike lowell said that gaby "sniffs" rbi's when he bats. hence, he has a knack for knocking in key runs.

however, sanchez has been horrible with runners in scoring position and has faded in the second half of this year and last year.

Gaby is a 3 WAR player on BR and Fangraphs. By the way, he's +9 fielding on BR and +4.2 fielding on Fangraphs. Pretty darn good.

i never knocked his fielding. as i said in a post before, with a guy like fielder we may suffer slightly on defence but dont sit here and tell me gaby has been a consistent run producer this year. he has constantly failed in big situations and should be batting in the 6 or 7 hole and not 3rd, 4th, or 5th.

Fielder would be a big upgrade, but I'd rather have starting pitching over Fielder. Sanchez can be protected by other players in the lineup. Plus, who knows, maybe next year he stays consistent and hits .850 the entire season.

If the Marlins played in the AL, Fielder might make sense. He's too big of a boy to be a first basemen over the long run.

People made fun of Cabrera for being overweight; he weighs 240 but he's 6'4". Fielder weighs 275, but only 5'11".

So if 1 WAR goes for 4m on the open market, we are paying him to be a 1 WAR player (And he was 3 WAR this season).

That's a good contract.

I like this move. I'm for signing Jose Reyes and moving Hanley to 3rd, keeping Gaby at first, Boni in Center, signing Buehrle and CJ. Aramis Ramirez is a year or 2 from being god-awful...trust me.

love this. his D makes up for his mediocre offense. we're about to win the WS. need a great team.

just wanna toot my own horn for predicting 4m/yr. I feel like I'm a modernday marlinslou. (has he been around recently? I feel like I've missed my dose of prophecy recently. probably just waiting for everything to fall into place with us getting Pujols and everything)

Mediocre offense? Such a harsh word. I think you're stuck in June. Surely he isn't a phenomenal batter but he's average in my books.

So what you're saying is that calling him average is harsh, but he's mediocre in your books?

:headscratch

Mediocre is usually used to describe something sub-par. Naturally you'll probably pull up the dictionary in response, which will have two definitions and you'll state your case.

In which case I will say that the word mediocre more often than not has a negative connotation to it. People never use the word mediocre to literally describe something in the average, but rather something under the average.

I'm more for trading Gaby, Cogs, and Baker to bring in another speedster with a high OBP to play CF, moving Logan to 1B, and having Boni in LF.
