Posted September 27, 201113 yr 2 year extension: http://www.mlbtrader...rce=twitterfeed Infante reaches two-year agreement MIAMI — After weeks of negotiations, the Marlins have reached agreement with second baseman Omar Infante on a two-year contract. Terms are not yet known. But according to a team source, Infante is scheduled to take a physical on Tuesday, and once that process is completed, an announcement is expected. Infante, 30, and reliever Mike Dunn were obtained from the Braves last November for Dan Uggla. Infante earned $2.5 million this season. The veteran made it clear he wanted to remain with the Marlins. By coming to terms now, he avoids going through the free agent process. A player wanted to stay with the Marlins?! ZOMG HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!

September 27, 201113 yr I can't believe Infante wanted to re-sign with us. I mean, we were so classless with Mike Cameron. Why would anyone wanna sign with us?
September 27, 201113 yr whoops.. just from frisarios twitter. not confirmed That's somewhat credible for now, though. This is awesome news, if it's true. That's a good deal and the Marlins could use him next year.
September 27, 201113 yr i like this move. 2 years is good and i would like to see omar get that average back up to .300 and the OBP up to .350.
September 27, 201113 yr League average player, not exciting but it's good to have one more position where we will at least have competent play. That will allow us to focus on the positions where we need dramatic improvement.
September 27, 201113 yr Author whoops.. just from frisarios twitter. not confirmed That's somewhat credible for now, though. This is awesome news, if it's true. That's a good deal and the Marlins could use him next year. He's just fine as the starting 2B, and he's also a great player to plug holes if injuries pop up. I think 2 years/8 million is exactly what I predicted in another thread, or at least what I said I'd be more comfortable with. I stand by that, and so I like this deal.

September 27, 201113 yr This ensures that Bonifacio will be our starting centerfielder. I have no problem with that.
September 27, 201113 yr Author my intuitions were correct. frisaro reported 2yrs/8 million. Actually, your intuitions were wrong. Mine were right. i was actually thinking maybe 2yr/10 million. Without investigating comparable contracts, that just "feels" a little high to me. I would feel better about 2/8 or 3/12, but I'm not sure.
