Pujols to Angels

Featured Replies

Would this be comparable to the Lebron signing?... Yeah right? I mean, imagine what the Dolphins must feel like if this deal happens. For the first time in history, baseball and basketball will be more popular than our football team no?

I love the Dolphins, but they have brought this all on themselves.

Don't forget the Panthers are hot right now.

Dolphins need Andrew Luck.

But we won last week, so no more Sucking 4 Luck.

I'm serious, that would be f***ing epic if Pujols or Reyes walks out in a Marlins uniform. Hey if you wanna add fuel to the fire, you can say that Samson was stalling the other day when he wouldn't comment on Pujols but had no problem talking about anyone else. They have been in contact. Offered a contract he couldnt refuse. Pujols is really in Miami to sign the contract and throw on a uniform. Loria has been saving his pennies over the past 11 years.

Like it or not, everyone here has to to admit it would be the story of the century.

As epic as that would be, I don't see Pujols slapping St. Louis in the face like that like LeBron did to Cleveland (especially since LeBron only did it for a payday and Pujols wouldn't see a dime). Reyes, however, could totally do that.

Kim Bokamper ran into Albert Pujols at the ballpark earlier today. Will have a story during the 6 pm newscast

Clip of Pujols saying, "I'm coming here yo."

End of clip.

You have to draw the line somewhere, and hockey is where its at. Even if the panthers sign the dreamteam, it would never be as popular as baseball, let alone football or basketball. If Marlins somehow get Pujols, it would be Heat>Marlins>Dolphins>>>>Panthers no?

Remember, this is South Florida. Popularity comes when wins do. The Panthers were very popular back in the 90's due to their early success. And with the Dolphins sucking and no NBA right now, people will begin to pay attention.

I just don't think enough people care about hockey though. Even if they were on a verge of an undefeated season, popularity would still pale in comparison to the other franchises. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong or underestimating the popularity of hockey in South Fla.

You don't remember the Year of the Rat (1996) ?

Because they were winning and had a great identity. It happened with the heat, and if it happens to the marlins and the panthers, attention given to the dolphins will fade (until they start winning).

I would love for south fl to become a sports powerhouse. Marlins, Dolphins, Heat, Panthers all winning.

Getting lost in that is the U, who if they can get their mess cleaned up, and keep Al Golden - will themselves be "golden" once again at the boxoffice. Just earlier this year they had 69,000 for the Ohio St. game.

If you would of read just a couple more posts, I answered with

No I remember the rats, and the glowing hockey puck (my fav). Shoot, I confess I used to watch the panthers back in the mid 90's as well.

LeBron actually took less money to come to Miami. LeBron came to the Heat because he felt it gave him the best situation to consistently contend for a title.

Now I don't know what s going through Pujols mind right now, BUT the only reasons he would come to the Marlins is MONEY & maybe living in Miami

He would be coming to Miami for the exact opposite reason as LeBron.

Dude thats the way it goes in forums - you respond to a post as you read it. I don't read a whole thread and then decided what to respond to.....who does that ?

Great argument, and the reason why I think he won't be coming here, and just looking for an excuse to get a better deal in St.Louis

But it was an ongoing argument lol, you can't just stop reading mid argument and post your own opinion, that's NOT how forums work, you have to read.

It's not like this is a 60 page thread either, the whole panthers argument went on for like 6 posts, and it's over with now,.

yeah Lebron, actally lost something like $ 40 million in guaranteed money that he would have made over the course of the max contract he would have been offered if he had stayed in Cleveland. His decision was all about winning over $$$$ and yet he got killed for it around the country......yet people get angry about money grubbing athletes.....I swear I don't get people....

I thought LeBron got a max contract from the Heat? Anyway, I'm not disagreeing with you regarding Pujols and his motives. His interest in the Marlins and the Marlins interest in him only benefits both parties. It drives up Albert's price and gives the Marlins positive press needed to fuel this movement....

I wonder how Cardnial fans would react to that.

photoshop a pujols jersey in here

Nah, Albert's won a few titles in St. Louis, the circumstances are totally different.

Oh I agree we are being worked over like Ryan Clark did to the Dolphins several years ago. Pujols is for show - show for Albert to make the Cards sweat a little bit, and a show for Loria to look like he is super serious for other free agents we really will be targeting.

No, he signed for $ 11 million a year, whereas if he had resigned with Cleveland he would have been guaranteed something like $ 18 million a year.

I'm starting to wonder whether we'll be able to afford starting pitching......

Or if Lomo will indeed be going to Oakland....
