November 12, 201114 yr I still think its smarter to sign reyes and maybe the cuban. Put any other available $ into sp. Although i wont complain if we get em all... Plus gaby was showing off and is promoting the new look. Would be stange if he is traded... I was thinking the same thing about Ricky Nolasco.
November 12, 201114 yr I know baseball is a business but I would hate it for Gaby if he got traded before getting to play in the new park. Being a local boy, you know he's got to love it.

November 12, 201114 yr i actually like the hat a lot more with the black in the center instead of white.
November 13, 201114 yr I am not saying the Marlins should pay Pujols the rumored 30 mil/year he is asking for, but if the fish are looking to increase revenue by putting butts in the seats, then this will get it done. I would rather that 30 mil go to Reyes and Buehrle. 1B is not a huge need, as we have LoMo and Sanchez to choose from. One of those two (Lomo and Sanchez) needs to be sent packing in a deal to bring back good SP.

November 13, 201114 yr If that offer is still even on the table, I don't see the Marlins signing him.
November 13, 201114 yr Marlins have made proposals to Pujols, Reyes and Buehrle but couldn't afford the trifecta...so don't expect James/Wade/Bosh type Marlins wtr -Jim Bowden, ESPN XM So long Albert.
November 13, 201114 yr I think the Marlins knew all along they can't afford Pujols, but they want to make noise and drum up publicity. People here are going to be sorely disappointed with what the Marlins end up doing this offseason.

Selig will begin to explore ways of getting Loria out the door I am sure.

El Penguino is hinting that we might not do much at all. Loria would never be able to face that one at opening day, and he wants to bask in glory that day. Unless he has a team that looks credible, he won't be able to do that.

The Marlins made an offer to him after all. They have legitimate interest in Pujols, but I think that are realistic and realize that they won't be able to match the offers of other teams.

Unless he has a team that looks credible, he won't be able to do that. I didn't say that. I'm saying that they probably won't get Fielder or Pujols; they'll maybe get two of Jackson, Buehrle, Cespedes, and Reyes. My impression is that some people here are expecting them to do more than that.

Most of us here realize that getting both Reyes and Pujols would put us far ahead of expected payroll projections. If we get Reyes plus one other from that list, I'm sure a lot of fans will be satisfied and wait for any possible trades to fill any other gaps.
November 14, 201114 yr SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman competing exec on #marlins offer to albert: "marlins arent going to sign pujols. thats a joke.''
