Again, that's most likely just our opening offer. You don't go all in on the first offer to a FA. Just like a free agent doesn't usually accept the first offer he gets (excluding Jayson Werth)

Rosenthal is a more respectable source than any of our guys down here. 9 years and under $200MM, though? That means that it's less than $23MM/year. A bit low, probably.

Put you next to just about anybody on these forums and you've lost in a battle of humility. It's certainly not 'something new for me'. My interactions with you don't necessarily portray how I interact with normal people on these forums. There's just no need to be humble to somebody like you because you'll still be a douche regardless.

I dont think anyone is denying that Pujols would make the Marlins a much better team off that bat. However, 1B is not a huge need for this team. One of Gaby or Morrison should hold down first, while the other should be traded to bring in quality SP. Rather than give $25 mil to Pujols, we should attempt to fill our other needs--being 3B, CF, and SP. Reyes at 15-17 mil and Buehrle at 12 mil would benefit the fish much more than Pujols alone. If the front office is looking to go above and beyond the Pujols signing, they would be much more limited in doing so with a 200 mil contract on the books.

 

reyes + 2 SP + Cespedes should be the main targets for the team. With reyes at SS, we fill the 3B hole with Hanley. Cespedes hold down CF, shifting Boni to LF, which allows us to move LoMo or Gaby in a big deal to bring in a SP on top of whatevert FA SP we sign. Once Reyes signs we can get the ball rolling and fill in other needs by trading the expendable players.

I agree. It's why I'm not so high on Reyes, either. I'm much more in favor of getting some pitchers and a CF. Of course... Reyes would still work because Hanley can just as easily shift over to 3rd base I guess.

 

So... ideally Cespedes/Buehrle/(Reyes/Wilson) would be the best option for the off-season.

 

That is of course unless Gaby and Nolasco can be dealt for some good pitching. In that case, go for it.

 

However the more I think about it, steer clear of Prince Fielder.

Boni might end up in CF even if we get Cespedes and trade Gaby. Cespedes reportedly may end up on 1 of the corners, and I would really like Boni in CF.
