Posted December 14, 201211 yr Reports are could be 27 dead and at least 18 of them children. This is an elementary school. Shooter is one of the dead.
December 14, 201211 yr Awful. Death is too kind for the one gunman. I hope the other gets caught before he/she is killed or commits suicide. Killing children is the ultimate form of cowardice.
December 14, 201211 yr Just read about this... it makes me absolutely sick. God bless all the poor souls affected by this senseless tragedy. While I believe that every American should have the right to own and posses a firearm, we definitely need more stringent gun laws and more control. We need to prevent tragedies like these from happening.
December 14, 201211 yr The shooter was the son of one of the teachers. He killed his mother and many of her students along with other school staff and other students. Crazy.
December 14, 201211 yr Shooter killed his brother in New Jersey, then drove 80 miles to the school to kill his mother and the school children. Sickening.
December 14, 201211 yr I would never suggest banning firearms or messing with any amendments. I also think it's incredibly silly when people get upset over having rifles and heavier firearms and whatnot. The same thing could and would happen with a 6 round handgun that is re-loadable. People who are proficient with weapons can carry extra magazines and reload with ease that takes a matter of seconds to do.  The point isn't to stop the flow of guns, it's to find the individuals who shouldn't be carrying them. Much like airport security. Brisking everyone and shaking them down for liquids and feeling them up and touching their junk will never stop a terrorist. Only intelligence before the terrorist gets to the airport will do that. You're stupid to think that terrorists couldn't have their way with us on so many grounds right now.  Intelligence is key. Prevention is key.
December 14, 201211 yr Author I seriously cannot fathom that someone just unloaded on what appears to be a class of 5 year-olds in kindergarten. What a nightmare.
December 14, 201211 yr The media first reported than Ryan Landza was the shooter and released his facebook photo. Naturally the guy was harassed on facebook. Later they report that Adam Landza was actually the murderer. Media is crap. Needless to say Ryan is probably in for a huge payday for defamation.

Or it could be really fucking unfortunate to be Ryan Landza and learn that your little brother killed your mom and 26 other people by means of accusations through social media.  I've also heard reports that the gunman killed his father at home. But then I've also heard that that was his brother at home. So something is still very hazy.

December 14, 201211 yr Looks like the mistaken identity is in fact his brother though, as his brother was arrested/taken into custody/whatever in New Jersey.
December 14, 201211 yr God, be with the people in CT tonight. I'm all for common sense laws for guns being enacted to keep them out of hands of people who absolutely SHOULDN'T have them, just don't eff with the second amendment.
December 14, 201211 yr There shouldn't be a *right* to have a gun, but it shouldn't be *illegal*. I will never understand redneckism and the 2nd amendment and why it is so justifiably 'conservative'.

How do you determine who should have them and who should not? That, alone, goes against your precious 2nd Amendment.

I will never understand redneckism and the 2nd amendment and why it is so justifiably 'conservative'. I don't see how it's considered redneckism when the founding fathers put it In the constitution.  Not addressed to you B but if the guy had run into a class room of kindergartners with a knife or a hatchet or somethjng I think the results would have been no different, maybe 3-4 less dead if that. With very minimal training and stupid motives people will do anything and can do anything. Besides your going up against kindergartners in basically a sealed room with one way out most of the time. I'm not sure if they had school resource officers at this school, most elementary schools do not. I could be wrong but doesn't CT on the more pro gun control side and have some of thr tougher laws in the country?
December 14, 201211 yr Eh... I think they would've been different. People can defend themselves much better from a knife or a hatchet. It's more gruesome and bloody and disgusting, but against a gun there's no fight.  Most schools do not, and it blows my mind that there's enough cops to go around and give you tickets for HOV lane violations but not enough for at least two in every public school, K-12. Don't tell me that can't be done, it absolutely can. I value that police officers protect our lives more than anything else they do, and that's what their primary goal should be.  But   I don't see how it's considered redneckism when the founding fathers put it In the constitution. What I mean by it is that I don't understand the flock of sheep reaction where all Southern conservatives will swear by it and all liberals will swear against it. It wasn't a shot at anybody, it was a question of how such a value is a 'conservative' value by any means, and a question of when people are going to start speaking for themselves and not just speaking for what their political growing ups have taught them to believe.

You try and set up something that is neutral and objective. There are certain people who can handle poisonous substances, and many who can't; there, too, it's the government's job to try and set up some sort of reasonable mechanism for fair adjudication.
December 14, 201211 yr Yeah, you'd be surprised how far science and research can go. You can absolutely stop an individual through INTELLIGENCE. A stupid brute force wait list or monitoring people or forcing gun safety classes any of that shit wont do anything. We're talking behaviors and psychology that absolutely could be useful. You will always have the one that got away, but you shouldn't have the 30 that got away.
December 14, 201211 yr And furthermore, despite the one that got away, there should be defenses set up for when he gets away.
December 14, 201211 yr your precious 2nd Amendment. It's yours too, regardless if you want it or not.
December 14, 201211 yr You right Dr. B there should be one but your throwing your anger at the wrong side of government in most cases.  Around my area the sheriffs office who is extremely understaffed provides the officers for the schools. They enforce no traffic violations only focusing on calls. law enforcement agencies in the surrounding Counties around me want their officers in schools but the local government doesn't. They don't want their innocent drug dealing 200 pound children to get tased or wrestled down when they are trying to fight officers or other students. Elementary schools didnt want to put out the image of unsafe schools to their parents. The don't want to fund the positions for these extra officers.
