Logan may not be ready for opening day

won't be cleared to start running by the time spring training starts (Feb 15th) and it's unclear whether he'll be ready for opening day or not. It's of course best to not rush things, especially for Morrison.

Ah geez, I understand his health comes first and he definitely shouldn't rush things but this stinks. My initial reaction is that if he doesn't come back soon enough and/or strong enough as in performance, this could be a huge blow to his chances of sticking in Miami long-term. I'm starting to get the Hermida, Maybin, Miller, Volstad feeling... where if he doesn't fulfill his potential soon, he'll be another bust on his way out of here. Damn shame.

 

And does the FO see this as big enough to add a substitution to the roster? Or is it Mahoney/Dobbs time? Is Carlos Lee now a potential candidate on an extremely cheap deal?

I think when he finally gets to play his real position, and that knee is finally healthy, he will be a productive 1b.

I completely agree but with the way his past two years have gone, if he has another injury-ridden 2013, how much longer do you see the team waiting him out? My first thought is a bad 2013 starts hurting his future here.

I'm not very encouraged about LoMo at this point myself, especially because of the injuries. But I doubt any other team would be anxious to have a 22nd(?) round draft pick who has yet to show much, so he might as well get his final chance to show what he can do. If he can't hack it, jarfmar would be happy to see Mike Jacobs get another shot. And I do believe Jake was more productive while here than LoMo has been so far.

I wasn't intending to imply anything. And my remark about Jacobs was only an attempt at a joke, drawn from another thread. I just believe that until LoMo proves himself at this level there won't be many other teams taking a great interest in him. But if he can stay healthy he may have a good chance of putting an end to our long miseries at first base, and I would sure as hell like to see that happen.

A first rounder who doesn't show up in the minors is forgotten, Morrison and Hermida are comparable because they both distinguished themselves as top prospects a couples years in. Right now we've seen a flash of talent and then disappointing results, and it's certainly beginning to feel like we won't see Morrison become the player that matches the better projections out there.
