April 5, 201313 yr Believe it or not- id like to see Thome in a platoon with Giambi at first and Rolen at 3B so we can slide Polanco to 2B. That would make Solano the UTIL IF. Two lefties platooning? That's odd. Also Rolen didn't play in the spring and is considering retirement so either way he's probably not season ready.Old men need rest, 4 games for one, three for another. Kinda what the Rockies did last year with Helton and Giambi. Rolen, can play gold glove defense in his hoverround.

He had a very good spring but since they have a full outfield and Alonso a first he was optioned to AAA Tucson. They probably wouldn't give him away for cheap since he's still only 26 but he's an interesting player.

April 5, 201313 yr well as bad as his offensive numbers look, he did manage a fair bit of slugging vs RHP in AA last season. LHP really dragged his numbers down.

I actually defend this franchise when people tell me they think it's a triple-A roster, but with players like Skipworth on the team they're absolutely right.
April 5, 201313 yr he's fine defensively. it's really not all that much worse than someone like Matt Treanor. He's not even the backup, they've had a bunch of injuries and are scrambling. I mean it's a mess but whatever, it's a lost season anyway.

Seriously? Kearns/Dobbs was a fine platoon last year. Just use that. It's not like any of those bats are too good to keep out of the lineup.

April 8, 201313 yr I would rather Skipworth get starts behind the plate than Miguel Olivo. Olivo should only get PT if there is no other options available.
