April 13, 201313 yr Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN 3m David Aardsma signed with the Marlins, a minor league deal.
April 13, 201313 yr Apparently he is a mediocre relief pitcher who has been passed around like an old rag by just about every other baseball club, and hasn't pitched since 2011 when he had Tommy John surgery.
April 13, 201313 yr If I remember right, he used to hit 95, 96 on his fastball. Also, he pitched a game for the Yanks last year. 1 game. One single, solitary game. Yeah.
April 13, 201313 yr Maybe he is here to be the replacement for Cishek when we trade him away later in the year?

April 13, 201313 yr I wonder what other brilliant talents this front office is going to sign before this season is over.

April 14, 201313 yr I mean I would rather the Marlins target some bats, but this will probably prove potentially useful when the Marlins bullpen dies by mid season.

April 14, 201313 yr Aardsma is a trademark Beinfest project (the one thing he has been able to do well) and his upside is up there with the best he's brought in. Aardsma has sick stuff and has some closing experience. I just wish the rest of the team were worthwhile enough to make this move matter in the slightest.
April 14, 201313 yr Actually, David Aardsma sucks. If you cloned Mike Dunn and made him throw right-handed, you'd get David Aardsma. I'm not sure what "Beinfest project (the one thing he has been able to do well)" means. David Aardsma seems no different than the Derrick Turnbow/Mike MacDougal signings of about three years ago. The only good thing about it is that there's no risk involved.
April 16, 201313 yr WE'VE GOT THE FIRST NAME IN THE BASEBALL ENCYCLOPEDIA! WOOOOOO!!!! Smart decision now we are 1st at something :wee
April 16, 201313 yr I mean I would rather the Marlins target some bats, but this will probably prove potentially useful when the Marlins bullpen dies by mid season. I have a feeling that a lot of FAs aren't interested in playing for this team. There was a lot of that going around in the offseason.
