Phil Nevin to interview with fish

Featured Replies

Didn't they say they'd interview many candidates just in case even though they're leaning towards someone experienced? I highly doubt Nevin gets the job.

No reason to interview Nevin though, plenty of more experienced guys exist. It worries me that they MAY abandon that plan.

I wouldnt mind having orel hershiser on manager.

"Hey Bud, do you want to come manage my team?"

"Yes, you have some intriguing young players like Stanton and Fernandez I would love to lead."

"Oh honey, I'm the leader here, you'd just be doing what I say."

"..."

"Hello?"

"..."

"Fuck it, call Phil."

This is utterly disappointing after everything that was said

You kept saying "wait and see what they do" but it was clear from the beginning that they would stick to the "Marlins way." Shame on you for thinking they might actually try a different approach.

Oh well more of the same. Why do I always believe there MIGHT be a change ?

So no Bud Black? He was one of the top for me.

Was there really a change in the Bud Black scenario? If there was then now im scared.

These questions need to be answered. No chance for Bud Black!?

Next guy I would take is Gardenhire. Otherwise forget it. Nevin sounds like a filler candidate though. Dusty Baker said he hasn't even been contacted. I think Loria is holding out for Mattingly. He loves the Yankee connections.

Bullshit, Loria 100% was going to do the other thing but I added SEVERAL times that this is all of course subject to Loria changing his mind which he is known to do. Shame on you for trying to put me down

Sadly Bud is now a longshot

Damn, does he even get an interview or has that ship sailed? I wonder if it was Bud's decision or Loria's that changed this.

I have no idea if Loria is known to change is mind a lot. I don't have access to insider info but from my perspective I see no real indication of that. However, since all of his 'final' decisions are so very predictable and philosophically consistent, if he constantly is changing his mind, he is consistently doing so in a very predictable fashion. As in it's a given that he always does the thing that he shouldn't be doing.

I feel like we've been hearing about a FO shakeup after almost every season since 2012. Beinfest is gone, sure, but everything remained structurally intact by basically promoting Beinfest disciples to take his job. Jennings and Beinfest might have had their disagreements (as reported), but they are still both torn from the same cloth.

Anyway, it comes as absolutely no surprise that Loria would keep following the Marlins way. Anyone could have seen it coming from a mile away.
