October 8, 201511 yr Author I mean, he fits the profile. I'm not surprised that he would turn the Marlins down considering that this organization is the mother of all dumpster fires. I bet they actually end up hiring someone like Phil Nevin because the experienced guys would never want to manage for the Marlins.

Acta, Bowa, or some experienced former manager will absolutely take this job. That's part of the issue...they know they can keep firing these guys and they'll still have a long line of people that will happily take the job. I would think it would be the up and coming guys that would want to avoid managing here...not the guys that want to get back in.
October 8, 201511 yr By the way... Diamondbacks Triple-A manager Phil Nevin is receiving interest from the Nationals, reports the Arizona Republic’s Zach Buchanan (via Twitter). While Rizzo said Monday that the team would lean toward someone with Major League managerial experience, which Nevin lacks, Nevin is an accomplished minor league skipper that’s thought to be a future big league manager. Rizzo, formerly Arizona’s scouting director, was already with the Nats by the time Nevin joined the D-Backs organization in 2014. However, he still has connections in Arizona that could give him plenty of insight into what Nevin would bring to the table.
October 8, 201511 yr Well, we just lost Nevin. I hear a little league team in Alabama wants to interview Acta, so we can pretty much cross him out too.
October 8, 201511 yr Bowa is the current favorite *SUBJECT TO CHANGE* Of course..... Where's Art Howe? We're desperate for a backasswards manager. Hell, we'll take Philip Seymour Hoffman if he's available
October 8, 201511 yr Yeah I was thinking Bowa was the favorite if Black is out. Not that I think he's the best choice. Also, about Nevin, I don't think any of us here thought he couldn't be a decent manager, he's just not the type we had in mind... like someone else said, he'd basically be Mike Redmond again.
October 8, 201511 yr Imagining Admin Bowa in a room while Jeffrey Loria is trying to tell him how to run the team might make this all worth it...
October 8, 201511 yr Imagining Admin Bowa in a room while Jeffrey Loria is trying to tell him how to run the team might make this all worth it... Funny as that sounds this is exactly the problem with Bowa as manager here. He's definitely experienced and can even be considered successful... but the second the season hits a couple of lowpoints the shit will hit the fan. Bowa is Ozzie again and it won't end well.

Well the interview went well at least but very true
October 8, 201511 yr Author The Marlins will hire Bowa, fire him after 2 seasons, and then replace him with someone with zero experience. Then repeat.

Well as long as he leaves Castro out of the conversation he has a better chance of success then Ozzie.
October 8, 201511 yr I just want a manger who can use splits effectively, manage a bullpen, and has some knowledge of sabermetrics. I couldn't care less how experienced they are. Is that too much to ask? Go get the Cubs bench coach or something idk.

October 8, 201511 yr Ozzie was a mess outside of the Castro comments. Dude didnt even manage/coach the squad. basically got paid to sit on his ass, while Cora did everything.
