6/7 postgame

I'm giving Stanton one last chance or his baseball cards are going straight to the trash and I'm not even kidding.

4 HR game or bust?

or would you settle for a hit with RISP that gives the Fish the lead?

there are plenty who would argue that his "track record" does indeed speak for itself, but it depends which track record you're looking at - is it the one that's based on the two seasons where he stayed healthy all year (playing 140+ games) and made an impact or is it the one where he always seemingly has a freak injury to end a season and fails to hit in key situations?  being fair, he does have a lengthy track record for both of those cases.

The only year I can know of where his numbers weren't AS GOOD was 2013. Health has always been the issue with Stanton. Even last year he was on some record setting pace at least HR wise before he got hurt. 2014 had the Marlins gotten close he probably would have won the MVP.

2012 - He was only bright spot on that team. Even then he got hurt and had surgery that year on his knee.

2010 - Rookie / 2011 - Sophmore year.

Even then I would take his 2013 numbers right now

I thought the ball he hit last night to the warning track was gone especially the way Grossman played it. I was about to call you a physic since you had called it.

Technically that wouldn't work because he has to opt-out for it to end. If he isn't available, he can't opt-out and it becomes guaranteed.

You act like they can't forge a signature, come on man haven't you seen a movie

By the way if anyone was wondering Stanton is 0-18 with 11K with 2 outs and RISP. There are some more really depressing stats that show his metrics this year aren't that far from his career average but I don't want to accept those just yet

Yeah but wind sucks

Anyone do the "hamate bone" hot take on Stanton's struggles yet?

I'm no expert but from what I've heard the hamate bone injury isn't something that lingers or can cause future problems. once it's healed its in the past. Could definitely be something with his ribs though. Then again every time I think that I think it isn't because it's been so long that by now if it was the ribs he'd just hit the DL. If he's gone this long without one of those mysterious out of nowhere DL stints then I actually think he's quite healthy and its all mental now.

What I've heard and read is that the hamate bone injury could sap some power from a batter's swing. That hasn't been Stanton's problem, since he's been making no contact at all. I was just stirring shit up with a hot take, I don't think that hamate has anything to do with Stanton's poopy season.

He said poopy! Admin we gotta do something about the language on these boards!

Why is everyone saying Stanton is mental

I don't think it is physical. Least he isn't moving around like he is. The team is giving him days off here and there. The best thing you can do is keep running him out there in hopes that it just clicks. Stanton needs a nice couple of games to feel like he has the swagger back. He has to feel like his confidence is shot and with the expectations and contract stuff out there it overwhelms him.

Keep working on it. We are talking about baseball here. Where you are considered a success if you failed 7/10 times.

I do think he isn't hitting that outside pitch like everyone keeps saying. Move closer up in the box. Bonds and Menechino need to get aggressive with this. You tried to let him battle it out himself but it is probably more mechanical than anything else. If someone hits him in the back or leg it's not like he is going to feel it anyways. Guy is Hercules in human form.

Edit: Wrong postgame thread, but still.

Don't worry... all the postgame threads are the same if they weren't for Jose games.
