And many of us are tired of the negative attitudes and crying around here.

We live and die with Stanton whether you like it or not.  If we would have traded him or let him walk, the same people bitching about him would be bitching that we got rid of him.

Phelps might have blown a couple but he has done a phenomenal job.  Where would we be without him right now?

He's stepped up big for Capps.

Same goes for Bearclaw!

You claim that people don't understand that we play down to a bad teams level.  Well maybe we just play up to good teams levels?

We are at best a .500 team on paper actually playing .500 baseball.  Why the audacity to complain about  .500 when we've been a last place or near last place team for as long as I can remember?

You and the rest of the negative Nancy's should just enjoy the fact that we are having a decent season for once.

For God's sake, this negative attitude is akin to Admin getting laid by a 5 and you guys complaining that he couldn't fuck an 8 or a 10.  Just celebrate the fact that he got laid!

Pour a glass of Scotch, smore a cigar ( or weed)  put a smile on your damn face, STFU and let the rest of enjoy our team.  The Marlins are playing. 500 ball!  Yes, we are fucking a 5 but God damn it we are finally fucking!

Yeah,enjoy a .500 team,how sad to be a fish fan.

And what's our choices for Stanton ? four at-bats one game and how many at-bats could we continue to waste for him ? I just don't think we live and die with him, because we still win games when he doesn't know how to swing a bat.

It's unbelievable how frustrating this team is. I can't remember a team that so perfectly straddles the line between good team and bad team. Like from one day to the next we flip flop between "hey we're not bad" to "ah we suck." It's not between 100 loss team and 100 win team, it's literally this feeling of we were one to two plays away from winning or losing. I guess that's just the very definition of a .500 team.

On a side note, it's hilarious how we lose the first game of this road trip and several of you have already penciled us in to go 0-9 on the road trip.

I'm so lucky I get to sit back and watch a .500 team. No I want to be a 90 win team. And we should have already won 4 more easily. Should be 34-24.

Great post and I echo these sentiments.

Be happy that they are over .500 right now and playing solid baseball. Could we be doing a lot better? YES. But we could do also be doing a lot worse. If Ozuna and other guys didn't step up while Stanton has been on this crazy slump we probably would be 10 games under .500 right now.

I keep forgetting Wittgren is on this team probably because Mattingly sticks to the same blue print every game. Thought Wittgren should have come out in extra innings and given us the ability to go multiple innings like he did against the Pirates.

@Vince0926 I got love you for man, but I feel like you watch these games on the ledge of the Empire State Building. These losses suck especially when we could have easily added on but it's a 3 game series and the beginning of the road trip we can still come back and win to the next two games. We can't sweep everyone but our job and motive has been to take the series and for the most part we been doing that.

Thank goodness this team has been able to avoid the long losing streak.

Yes, because you could be watching a 100 loss team instead.  You want a 90 win team?  Well shit, I want a 100 win team.  But reality bites!  Jeffery Loria owns this team and he runs it on a low budget and on top of that he sucks at running a franchise.  If you want to live in a fantasy that's on you.

Lmao this is an awesome visual and gives me a great idea. Admin u live in NY maybe u can arrange this... Let's invite everyone on the boards to watch a game together on the top of the empire state building just to see how many of us commit suicide by the end of it. preferably a game against the braves while Stanton is slumping. Canada marlin will dive off after our starter throws the first pitch and its a ball.

Speak for yourself, you're the one that stares at your coworker all day every day instead of saying hi to her.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I do say hi. We could totally be in the friend zone right now, hater.

It's the manner in which we lose these games that makes us fans frustrated. We aren't losing many games 9-1. We're in every game. Which is good. But it sucks that we always have tiny leads because we can't score runs then the pen unfortunately blows it. The truth is with the margin of error we give phelps and Ramos they would need to have 0.00 era the entire year so that people on here stop blaming it on the bullpen. Last night we could have scored 6 runs easily. We had opportunities like in the first inning and blew it.

The team has 6 guys hitting over 300, guys on base all the time, but its a constant struggle to score runs. I just think what a big difference a fully functioning Stanton would have made to this team. No doubt in my mind we'd be up there with the Nats. Instead of struggling to win every game 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4-3, 4-2, 5-4 our bullpen would have a little bit more room to breathe, not having to struggle with the sense  that every run they let in ends up being the difference in turning a W into a L. Scoring opportunities are constantly being blown and/or not being maximized.

I'm frustrated because many guys are on this team are actually performing better than I thought they would. Even some of the pitching, Conley and Nico in particular.

I think part of the reason Stanton is angry with what he is going through is that he knows how good this team could have been with him performing as he should. It's certainly a better than 500 team. No doubt he's very pissed about how much his worse than Jeff Mathis like performance over the past month has set this team back. As a fan of this team, I'm pissed as well.

this is true, even with stanton batting his usual .250-260ish average this lineup would be dropping in enough runs to give us an actual cushion and pitchers would actually worry about pitching to him again - this is what happens every time he goes on one of his streaks such as the one where they climbed out of the abyss earlier this season.  As the Marlins biggest investment ever, this absolutely falls squarely on his shoulders - the contract is looking worse and worse now because you know he ain't gonna opt out of it when the time comes because at this pace he'll be a massive dead weight and there isn't another team that will pay him what the rest of that contract will

If it keeps going like this, Loria will hire a hitman (ironic) to take Stanton out before the next part of the deal

Technically that wouldn't work because he has to opt-out for it to end. If he isn't available, he can't opt-out and it becomes guaranteed.

Not really sure how this is a bad contract at all. You have pitchers getting paid $30 million right now and they can only impact the game once every 5 days. The contract is structured to escalate in the later years, which was suppose to give us time to put money towards better players around him with our payroll.

When you invest into someone, you not only want to make that investment work out but anything that could impact it. Stanton is one player but other guys impact the game as well. He will be getting paid market value for his contract in a world that estimations on Harper's next contract could reach $500 million. People focus more on the $325 million instead of the record 13 years.

He is definitely pressing and it sucks, but I am not giving up on Stanton because he's had a bad month and a half. His track record speaks for itself.

there are plenty who would argue that his "track record" does indeed speak for itself, but it depends which track record you're looking at - is it the one that's based on the two seasons where he stayed healthy all year (playing 140+ games) and made an impact or is it the one where he always seemingly has a freak injury to end a season and fails to hit in key situations?  being fair, he does have a lengthy track record for both of those cases.

I'm giving Stanton one last chance or his baseball cards are going straight to the trash and I'm not even kidding.
