June 23, 201610 yr There's at least 6 teams who would give far more than that potential marlins offer for Odorizzi. Remember what Shelby Miller got? Also, there's nothing about Nicolino that suggests he'll ever be a passable MLB pitcher. Rays are too smart a franchise to only look at MiLB ERA when deciphering talent (maybe marlins can pull a fast one on Preller though). The other two guys might be worse than him. You really see 6 teams in on him? I can see us, Seattle, maybe Boston or Detroit and st.louis would be a stretch. Mets/Nats are set barring an injury, Dodgers set, Boston doesn't seem like a fit to me, a KC reunion seems unlikely. Also, Shelby had far more value to him at the time he was traded than Odorizzi.

June 23, 201610 yr Yeah it's not entirely how bad our prospects are but it's just as much that other teams can offer better. Plenty of gms would out Nicolino Garcia and Flores in their systems but when they can get better returns than that they likely will.

June 23, 201610 yr As he should be If we get him super cheap I don't think it is the worst move in the world. His track record is a decent middle of the rotation guy and his like 40ish innings seems to indicate he has shaken off a bad start to the year.

We don't have a ton of options. There aren't a ton of top level guys with expiring contracts that we can eat. I would prefer the kid of SD or TB but we may not be able to do It. But let's just sit tight... It's gonna be interesting.

The FO knows this as well, but reality is they are limited. The Dee Gordon situation has really fucked us too. We would be able to move an infielder if he was playoff eligible, but hence Dietrich has to stay period. Is there anyone that would be interested in Dee? I doubt it with his PED issues
