July 24, 20169 yr would do naylor for cashner in .00001 seconds Would you also do Naylor for Tom Koehler? Because Cashner has actually been worse than Koehler this year. I mean, I guess he was good in 2013 and 2014, but he has been pretty crappy ever since and he's already 29. I'm not down with trading Naylor for a potentially crappy rental who doesn't have all that much upside.

July 24, 20169 yr Yes, I would. I think Naylor is pretty worthless lmao...Naylor is 19...even if he does amount to nothing I wouldn't trade him for garbage like TK or Cashner.
July 24, 20169 yr There’s apparently a new team in the mix for Aroldis Chapman, but the identity of that team is not yet known. Yes, the so-called mystery team has reared its head. Heyman.
July 24, 20169 yr Guessing a team looking to make an uncharacteristically bold move. St. Louis immediately comes to mind. Keep Aroldis away from the Cubs. Cards might've lost more games in the 8th and 9th innings this year than any other NL team.
July 24, 20169 yr Author Rodney makes Chapman pretty unnecessary here, not that he wouldn't make our bullpen ungodly but please focus on starting pitching instead of trying to force the wet dream of a Barraclough-Rodney-Chapman-Ramos bullpen.
July 24, 20169 yr lmao...Naylor is 19...even if he does amount to nothing I wouldn't trade him for garbage like TK or Cashner. cashner actually has some upside though. He's hard headed with is pitch selection. Could see him benefiting from benedict I really don't get why anyone thinks Naylor is valuable. He's a one position guy, the easiest position to field, 1b. He was drafted for power only which he's barely shown any. The only reason he's a first rounder is because the marlins wanted someone underslot.
July 24, 20169 yr also for all of his problems I guarantee TK is worth more than a fringe top 200 prospect (naylor). TK is durable and is really a classic #4/5 innings eater and has been consistent for years now. If he wasn't such a big baby I would like him a lot more
July 24, 20169 yr Rodney makes Chapman pretty unnecessary here, not that he wouldn't make our bullpen ungodly but please focus on starting pitching instead of trying to force the wet dream of a Barraclough-Rodney-Chapman-Ramos bullpen. Ramos would definitely be on the move if Chapman is added.
July 24, 20169 yr They'd only go for a big RP if they strike out on a SP I'm pretty sure. Then it becomes doing something rather than doing nothing.
July 24, 20169 yr Author Ramos would definitely be on the move if Chapman is added. Says who? That's not definite. They've been set on not subtracting from the team. Why subtract our near-perfect closer?
July 24, 20169 yr I wouldn't trade Naylor for Cashner. For that I would see what the A's want and shoot for Hill regardless if he misses a start. I like Ervin Satana but Twins need to help with that contract. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
July 24, 20169 yr Says who? That's not definite. They've been set on not subtracting from the team. Why subtract our near-perfect closer? His boosted value for a 2/3 starter?
July 24, 20169 yr Says who? That's not definite. They've been set on not subtracting from the team. Why subtract our near-perfect closer? This is based on nothing but hypothetically... Lets say a team with a SP we want would like Ramos as part of the deal. Then in a separate deal we get Chapman to replace Ramos. In the end, we have a SP and a new closer. Only way I see us dealing with Ramos is as part of a multi-team move such as that.
July 24, 20169 yr as much as i like watching chapman throw 100+ on everything it would be a waste of our limited prospect pool to acquire him. I'd prefer Ramos not to be on the move afterward either as I generally feel this team has bonded together quite well and has good chemistry for the first time in what feels like forever. Chapman over Ramos isn't nearly as big of an upgrade as acquiring a solid starter would be. Damn you Chen for being so shitty this year.
July 24, 20169 yr One reason I doubt Ramos is moved is the fact he's best friends with Stanton. While they don't go to Stanton to get approval, they also want to keep him happy and unless its a must-needed thing I don't think they move Ramos.

Damn you Chen for being so shitty this year. agreed on chapman. yeah chen sucking sucks, but also the FO decision to enter this year with absolutely no SP depth was pretty shitty. this whole situation was pretty predictable

July 24, 20169 yr Very well said@hovertical the focus should be addressing the glaring needs on this roster. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
July 24, 20169 yr I would like Ramos to be moved if it were for a top tier SP, but I don't think the FO will do it. I'm sure it'll upset Stanton, and we need as little drama as possible to end the second half of the season strong. Baseball is business, but sometimes you gotta appease the clubhouse.

I thought of this too when I responded to Coastie and while that's a fair guess there's also a chemistry and clubhouse issue in play here. The team has shown a desire to not disrupt the clubhouse, trading Ramos could do that even if it means getting a SP and Chapman. Also, your scenario assumes we have enough to get Chapman.
