Ichiro starting and going for 3K

Must need series win if the Marlins want to keep the WC race close

Who will get the day off for Ichiro?

Just gonna say this now to get it out of the way. I'm not thrilled that Mattingly is starting Ichiro in this one with a homestand starting tomorrow. I guess I respect that Donnie doesn't care about making this thing happen at home but when you're one game away from a homestand I don't see why you couldn't hold off. I don't even think starting Ichiro gives us "the best chance to win" so I'm not buying that excuse. If Ichiro didn't start and the game was tied in the late innings and he came in to pinch hit in a key spot I'd understand that more than this move today. Lastly I'll admit that I may be more thrown off that he might get this hit in front of a relatively small, not as appreciative Coors Field crowd. If it was a more significant road venue like Fenway, Yankee stadium, Wrigley, Dodger Stadium, or how about Seattle then maybe I'd be more ok with this. With that said, maybe Ichiro asked for this so I could very well be wrong. But when I saw he was starting today, sadly I wasn't happy, I was disappointed. Oh well.

I would love a line up of

L Dee

R Prado

L Yelich

R Stanton

L Dietrich

R Realmuto

L Ichiro

R Rojas

I agree, lets hope he doesnt get the hit, of course unless that hit meant we get the win, I think that is more important.

But yeah, why not just start him  tomorrow, I dont get it

Matchup like that is overrated because Dietrich and rojas suck vs any pitcher not on the braves or Phillies.

Rojas is hitting a combined .167 against the 2 teams you mentioned. Nicely done

Made you look it up. #victory

Verifying that you make ridiculous statements with almost no backbone is well worth the 5-10 seconds it took me to educate myself further

Ichiro starting today proves one thing to me, Don is not controlled by Loria.

L/R lineup for the sake of it is dumb.

The L/R alternating isn't the justification behind the line up, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Ichiro in the 7 hole is perfect with the type of hitter he is now, and Rojas taking Hech spot

Ichiro had plenty of chances to get 3k in Miami. It is what it is.

You're absolutely right, but what's one more day and does Ichiro playing today really give us more of a chance to win?

This is true but I guess you must be bored because now you're instinctively defending Loria.

I'd rather have Ozuna in there personally unless he needed a day off and I doubt one extra day would have mattered.

Exactly. My guess though is Ichiro wanted it today because even if he isn't trying to make it a marketing thing Donnie knows he could have easily waited one more day and the only person to have a say over Donnie here would be Ichiro himself.

Lehgo Mahlins.

It can hurt if the players forcefully inserted into the lineup for the sake of L/R aren't as good as the every day starters.

It was reported yesterday that Ichiro would probably start today. That's why he's in that lineup. I would never be for putting Ichiro in the lineup for the sake of having another lefty. But once again, you make an assumption with little backbone.

so those fockers at Coors field will have the chance to witness history intead of us fockers here in Miami way to go Donny DumbAss

Blame Ichiro who went 0-11 after he got 2,998.

you deserve a dislike for blaming Ichiro when it's clearly Loria's fault

Then give me a fucking dislike, don't be mad at Mattingly [or Loria] because Ichiro didn't get 3,000 during that homestand when he had a lot of chances to do so.
