And the quote...............Marlins – A perfect fit? Miami is Rodriguez’s hometown. Hitting coach Barry Bonds and Rodriguez are friends. And Rodriguez committed to the University of Miami before he signed with the Seattle Mariners. But without a DH, the Marlins' chances of picking up Rodriguez and using him as a pinch hitter are slim, mostly because they are in the thick of the National League wild card race and they have Ichiro Suzuki, 42, on the bench. The club also holds an option on Suzuki for 2017.

THOUGHTS???????????????

Lol at the article finding reasons he could fit here, the first two are fine but what does his commitment to UM fifteen years ago have anything to do with him wanting to play here now? I bet the next reason would be something like "ARod once saw an episode of CSI Miami"

What it doesn't mention and probably would be a reason to take an offer here is he has two daughters in Miami.

Oh that's a good one. That could probably get Admin to come down here too.

I have to believe A Rod is going to play somewhere next season to reach 700 hits.

I don't see us doing the milestone thing again with A Rod, but I think some team will.

The problem becomes A Rod sacrifices the remainder of his contract he's getting for becoming a "coach" with the Yankees. The question becomes whether he values big money over career achievements in the end.

He gets paid regardless as long as he clears waivers which he will.

Under normal circumstances I'd want A-Rod to stay away from here, but if he's directly replacing Chris Johnson, who's been so much shit this year, then I'd take it. He pretty much can't be any more useless than Johnson.

A-Rod's 2016 BABIP: .240

Chris Johnson's 2016 BABIP: .316

And A-ARod has still hit lefties better than Johnson.

Chris Johnson has been so bad that I'd take ARod. They don't need CJ's ability to play 3B - with Deetz and Rojas they've got Prado covered. Also would be nice to have a RH bat that could tie a one-run game with one swing.

Have zero interest in bringing him here in '17. What purpose would that serve other than to get 700 next year? We've got a full month and a half left now - bring him here, get him some AB and he's got a good shot to do it this season.

Since the club doesn't trust either Bour or Deetz against LHP, may as well bring a RH bat that at worst is equivalent to CJ - CJ's OPS is .613 and ARod is .606.

I don't do NOT want AROD and his ego here. Thanks!

Wait, double negative... so you DO want him?

I'll gladly take A-Rod over C.Johnson. He has a .672 OPS against left handers, I mean he's clearly struggling. But if he can get butts in the seats which would help pump up the team, then why not. He had 33 HRs and an .840 OPS last year. Maybe a change of scenery could do the trick, baseball is tricky like that. Definitely not implying he'll return to that type of player but this team needs a jumpstart of sorts. Chris Johnson has a .583 OPS vs L, he's actually hitting better against R's this season. He's   kinda worthless and has no appeal or track record that would show that maybe he'd start hitting again. Bring A-Rod in and dump CJ.

So technically we would have two of the highest paid players in baseball on the same team? I might be having a change of heart.....
