August 30, 201610 yr Author Another thing. Wittgren was a closer most of MILB career. Mattingly has treated him as 2 inning MRP all year. This guy's just a terrible manager for this team. He clearly doesn't know the young players. With LA he had a lot more veteran talent who could adapt to his style. A team full of kids just apparently isn't his forte Also wittgren is anything but a closer. He's a control pitcher with no swing and miss pitch which is back by his pretty bad swing and miss %. Also, cespedes is very good. Shit happens but at least the marlins have a good average!

If they sucked since day one it would mean this team at 100% is this bad. And they're not. The Spring Training lineup we keep throwing out there is what sucks.

August 30, 201610 yr AJ gets blame too, the team is just bleeding to death right now and they need every bit of pitching they can get. I mean I know you can't expect perfection but that's pretty much what they have to be. You don't have to expect perfection but you should definitely expect an elite reliever to be able to avoid throwing a wild pitch with a runner on third. AJ definitely gets a ton of blame for this one specifically because if he hadn't thrown that pitch we could have won this one despite the offensive troubles.

Every team in this race has had down stretches and come back from that. We've had glimpses of this and need to do the same again.

I'm seeing way too many positives in these losses to think that this is not a playoff caliber team.

And it's not like Stanton or Bour were tearing it up when they were healthy. Disagree. You name me another team that has had its two leading run producers lost to injuries for 2 months or more with the playoffs on the line. Bour was making an impact before his injury and the Stanton loss, no matter his BA, has been devastating to this lineup. The fact that this wasn't a big run producing team with them in it has made losing them even more devastating. Ozuna has collapsed in trying to pick up the slack and Yelich simply isn't a power hitter. The power loss and inability to score runs with one swing of the bat has been a hugh problem, particularly for a team that can't string 3 singles together without a base running fuckup and with the exception of Prado sucks in RISP situations.
August 30, 201610 yr This offense is so limp-dick right now. Of all people Scruggs looks like he is contributing and no one else is manning up. Ozuna is a fucking pile of shit again and no one can hit a fucking home run yet the other team manages to find someone who can.

Marlins should sign him when they trade ozuna for Nolasco Got to hand it to Cespedes, ever since he joined the Mets last year he has absolutely killed us with big hit after big hit. Too many of them HR's. It was beyond stupid for us not to pitch around him, with two outs and bases empty. No one will ever accuse the Marlins of being an intelligent team, starting with Donny Baseball's dumb ass double switch moves, taking Prado out in previous games for a pinch runner, substituting CJ for Scruggs (and before then, Dietrich) in late inning low scoring games that threatened to go extra innings, etc, etc. Tough to stomach all this.
