October 27, 20169 yr Ok, fair enough. I still feel like most youths know not to mix alcohol and boating at 3 am, though. Is Yelich saying that he might have actually gone out on the boat? Peer pressure. As individuals ALL youth know not to mix alcohol and any machinery. Peer pressure is just to blame as alcohol.
October 27, 20169 yr Why can't the media just leave it alone and honor the dead people? This info is strictly only should be revealed to the families. Never the case when it comes to a celebrity.
October 27, 20169 yr Peer pressure. As individuals ALL youth know not to mix alcohol and any machinery. Peer pressure is just to blame as alcohol. Well it seems like Jose was egging on almost the entire team, but nobody really caved in and went.
October 27, 20169 yr Ok, fair enough. I still feel like most youths know not to mix alcohol and boating at 3 am, though. Is Yelich saying that he might have actually gone out on the boat? He mentioned the restaurant/bar, not the boat so I don't know what he would've done if he was there.
October 27, 20169 yr Well it seems like Jose was egging on almost the entire team, but nobody really caved in and went. But did the other 2 egg Jose on? Did Jose egg the other 2 on? I am not blaming or justifying anyone, I am saying peer pressure was most definitely involved in this some way or another.
October 27, 20169 yr But did the other 2 egg Jose on? Did Jose egg the other 2 on? I am not blaming or justifying anyone, I am saying peer pressure was most definitely involved in this some way or another. Jose was practically begging people to go with him after his teammates turned him down. That's been established.
October 27, 20169 yr I would say it's more than just youthful stupidity. No, it's precisely youthful stupidity. Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app

Jose didn't even know one of the two deceased well and the other guy didn't seem like he was that enthusiastic about going out on the boat according to his friend and the text messages.
October 27, 20169 yr No, it's precisely youthful stupidity. It is a case of thinking you're invincible. I mean just look at one of the other guy's that night telling his friend it wasn't his time to go. Basically mocking death and then it happens.
October 27, 20169 yr To me, youthful stupidity implies that it was a decision that most people would have made when they are youthful. I don't think that is the case here.
October 27, 20169 yr There are different levels of youthful stupidity. From cheating on a test to perhaps this... For me my youthul stupidity was being devasted by a girl who intentionally led me on and getting 9 people in a Nissan leaving school with cops everywhere. I can certainly chalk this up to youthful stupidity though....
October 27, 20169 yr I don't know if you guys have ever been on a boat late at night, but 100% sober it's dangerous, especially if you're hauling ass. Throw alcohol in the mix and it's not going to end well. It really sucks that it happened, but let's not act like Jose was innocent. Dude was BUI in the dark. You automatically win a Darin Award for that. Yikes, Darin must have been really stupid. How many Darwin Awards did he win before they named another one after him?

I can certainly chalk this up to youthful stupidity though.... Now I'm curious ...
October 27, 20169 yr hope proceeds go to some charity...monetizing that is far more egregious than what the v tech doofuses
October 27, 20169 yr Now I'm curious ... 9 people in a Nissan is easy. 3 in the front 4 in the back and 2 in the trunk. Explanation: 1) 3 in front: 1 in driver seat, 1 in passenger seat, 1 in the middle console area 2) 4 in back: 3 in the 3 back seats and 1 laying horizontal on top of the 3 sitting (I was this person) 3) 2 in trunk: Self-explanatory We were all 9th to 11th graders and we left through the school zone and drove about 2.5 miles before unloading some of us to get the trunk free.

October 27, 20169 yr Sounds like your school needs to build a wall and have the parents pay for it. This is good. I figured some Mexican jokes would come but not this good. Perhaps build a wall but have dropouts pay for it
October 28, 20169 yr Ok, fair enough. I still feel like most youths know not to mix alcohol and boating at 3 am, though. Is Yelich saying that he might have actually gone out on the boat? sad to say that isn't so. I was having this conversation with my sister who is 24 and a mother of a 1 yr old. Her husband and her are into boating, "drinking and boating is normal and not an issue". The last thing I said before walking out of her house was "as normal as drinking and driving right"
October 28, 20169 yr In a twisted way it is as normal as drinking and driving in the sense that it's horribly wrong but people still do it to an extent. Looking back now I'm ashamed at how many times I've had more than a drink and have gotten behind the wheel of a car. I've admittedly never been plastered but have definitely driven when I shouldn't have. But sadly the vast majority of people can say the same.
