Jose Fernandez dies in boating accident

Featured Replies

There's really no point in debating this but there's also the thought that if Ozuna, or anyone else was on board, maybe different decisions are made and the accident doesn't happen, or maybe people survive because circumstances are different. Adding in Ozuna doesn't automatically mean Ozuna dies... maybe Ozuna, a man with a family to come home to, steps in and changes some of the things that led to the accident. Just a thought.

Very true, If Ozuna came on board maybe he would have done something to effect the future. Im just glad he said No and didnt go, imagine Two or Three Marlin players dead? That would have been unprecedented , it almost happened.

Hammerhead:  THANK YOU for your post (I guess it was actually your Twitter account I was redirected to when I clicked on something. I had never been on Twitter before).  I feel so removed from the situation here in VT,  and I don't have ESPN or any FL networks at all up here. I greatly appreciated your photos and videos. I felt like I was able to at least see some footage of what I have been missing.

I hope you don't see him for a long time.

thanks, meant to say : "I will see you again, but not yet "

I keep forgetting to mention this but at the game on Monday, something else that I'm pretty sure nobody or very few people knew, I guess former Jose teammates not on other teams now have come by to pay their respects too. At the ballpark Monday I definitely saw Ed Lucas there. Always had fond memories of him so, of all people, I smiled when I saw him.

Cosart posted some pretty great stuff about him

Ed was always a very nice dude. I'm fairly certain I saw a few minor leaguers there as well.

Juan Pierre was there with his son.

Just noticed on instagram that Cole Gillespie posted that he was there too. I wonder if there would be anything private for other players and/or former teammates who couldn't make it because they were with other teams this week. Like cosart and nolasco and several others.

Yep, can't stand the dude. I understand you want your client (and you) to make money, but there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed. I know it was up to Jose but he was young and looking at his advice

I think it's good advice for a young guy. Getting married, with the amount of money he had or would have had, needs to be considered and reconsidered a million times. People like Jose can quickly be surrounded by vultures and other animals. Boras might be one of those animals, but believe me that there are far worse animals.

Prenup helps.

I've been a Marlins fan since I was born (almost. i was born in 89 but i moved to SFL in 94.... since as long as i can remember).

The Marlins have been a SHIT team, they'be been a great team, fuck everything that's happened in the past; the past few years all I would look forward to is Jose Day. Stanton's incredible, but every JOSE DAY was a moment. and I loved it. and we'll never get that again. and I'm devistated. RIP you beautiful fuck. still doesn't feel real.

They rarely hold up for assets acquired *after* marriage - which the hypothetical contract would fall under
