Major League Baseball granted the Marlins permission to have all their players wear Fernandez's number. The jerseys, which are being flown in from Philadelphia, have yet to arrive in Miami. If the jerseys do not arrive in time for the game, the players will wear their regular black tops with a No. 16 patch on the sleeve.

 

The club has also decided to cut back on all in-game activities and has given its mascot, Billy the Marlin, the night off.

 

A lone trumpet will play "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" for the seventh-inning stretch.
