September 25, 20169 yr The Marlins franchise tends to screw things up a lot, but I have confidence that they will continue to handle this well. Agreed. They're human beings. Just because they make poor baseball decisions doesn't mean they're horrible people who can't make the right decisions in a situation like this. I also expect them to strongly listen to the players in deciding what to do here. The players will not allow them to do the wrong thing.
September 25, 20169 yr In a way I also expect Loria to probably go above and beyond with this one. With all his faults he's shown to be so kind, generous, sympathetic, and human when it comes to situations as powerful as this. The death of Logan Morrison's father, the night Stanton was hit in the face in Milwaukee, and the bringing over of Jose's grandmother in 2013 are all good examples here.
September 25, 20169 yr Yes, when it comes to sentimental stuff, the Marlins do a pretty nice job. There's no obvious way to deal with something like this, but I'm sure whatever they do will be fine. It's got to be tough for the players to have to get on the field on Monday, I'm guessing.
September 25, 20169 yr I've actually been smiling a lot more the last hour. The news has been now airing more than just the immediate news of this morning and has shown a lot of clips of him being so happy and joyful and full of energy. So gonna miss him but what a beautiful human being. Thank you Jose!
September 25, 20169 yr I think Loria will set up Jose's kid nicely. I think Samson alluded to as much today. The part about Jose always being a part of the family
September 25, 20169 yr No comments from Bonds yet. My favorite memory was the game when him and Jose were blowing kisses to the camera lmao!
September 25, 20169 yr No comments from Bonds yet. My favorite memory was the game when him and Jose were blowing kisses to the camera lmao! Bonds is taking it really hard I am sure
September 25, 20169 yr Man, last night I fell asleep on my couch watching the beginning of the new season of Narcos. There is a new character named Maritza, Jose's mother's name.
September 25, 20169 yr the best way to remember Jose will be by playing hard, win all the remainder games and make it to the playoffs
September 25, 20169 yr the best way to remember Jose will be by playing hard, win all the remainder games and make it to the playoffs There must be a more realistic way to remember Jose.
September 25, 20169 yr There must be a more realistic way to remember Jose. by playing hard and have fun like he did
September 26, 20169 yr the best way to remember Jose will be by playing hard, win all the remainder games and make it to the playoffs That would require the other three teams ahead of us to lose every game while we win every game.
September 26, 20169 yr That would require the other three teams ahead of us to lose every game while we win every game. So you're saying there's a chance?
September 26, 20169 yr That would require the other three teams ahead of us to lose every game while we win every game. If they really loved Jose they'd happily do this for us.
September 26, 20169 yr Loria arriving at the Fernandez home. Ugh. https://twitter.com/LianeMorejonTV/status/780188316192866305/photo/1
September 26, 20169 yr I would like to see every player wearing # 16 tomorrow just like they do with #42
September 26, 20169 yr I would like to see every player wearing # 16 tomorrow just like they do with #42 So would I
September 26, 20169 yr How do we ever get over this???? I know it means nothing when talking about the loss of a life....but part of this tragedy is just how much Jose meant to the Marlins and all of South Florida. This is truly devastating.
September 26, 20169 yr I have 2 mutual friends on Facebook with Eddy Rivero who was Jose's friend on the boat. I don't know if his face looks familiar. I don't know anything anymore. When does tomorrow start?
September 26, 20169 yr Author It just hit me. Coming home from work on the 836 passing Marlins park and being able to see into the stadium, the scoreboard Displaying #16.
September 26, 20169 yr Opening Day is going to feel really weird next season. Much weirder than it did with this year with Tommy Hutton not in the booth.
September 26, 20169 yr Today was the first time in a long time that I was glad this site existed. I admit there's been times in the past year that I wished I never made this site, but I am happy that I did. This would have been a really difficult day to handle without you guys and gals to keep me company. It was really tough as it is, but it helped having a community here where we could all mourn together.
