April 24, 20179 yr I read it again, the article is oddly composed and can easily be misread. Here's what it says... Derek Jeter does want to buy the Miami Marlins and is teaming with Jeb Bush to make an offer. The Marlins, namely David Samson, have been using Jeter's name in negotiations as leverage to ask for higher offers from other potential bidders. Jeter isn't happy with this tactic and with his name being used publicly in this, not because he doesn't want to be associated with the Marlins, but because he only wants his name known if he wins the bidding. If he doesn't win, he'd rather not be mentioned so that he isn't associated with his failed bid. Anything other than what I just wrote is NOT what the article states.

Or...perhaps this "news" being put out there because Jeter knows his group doesn't have the highest offer... Until the team is sold, all of this is part of the negotiation process.

Does someone have a way to publicly shame him and anyone else who doesn't get this right? On another note, we should start a board and list every time someone gets it wrong with a way to either shame them or at least contact them and send massive responses so they get off their lazy asses and do some factually correct reporting for a change!? April 24, 20179 yr Apart from his career, the one thing I remember about Glavine was at the time of the baseball strike he made a very smug remark that essentially was that the fans and their reaction to the strike didn't matter so much. It was sort of like, they common folk who are they to complain, as ballplayers (already making millions) we've got to protect our turf.
