Marlins Trade Rumors

Featured Replies

I think that will be rather difficult with Stanton's contract in that way and the Marlins losing tons of money already.

I know my thinking about our deadline approach was much in contrast to the mainstream opinion, but who knows what would happen ? I rather to keep my wish like that, because it's the only reason that keep me rooting for this team…but who knows, maybe I follow Stanton or Ozuna to their new team if they really moved one of them…

This lineup should be the best one of the last ten years,it's our strength now and shouldn't dismantle it,we should give this lineup some more seasons and around it with a good pitching staff…the bad FA SP signing before shouldn't be the reason we didn't continue to pursue other big name FA SPs,injury and underperformance always happen so it shouldn't be the reason to avoid giving big contracts to top tier SP.

It's just what I want to say…

"I believe Commissioner Manfred is cognizant of this and wont allow Loria and company to rip this team apart and sell off the players simply to help facilitate the impending sale of the team. Moving many of these players now would be doing so for the wrong reason. Maybe you believe that it would be in the team’s best interest to act now and send some of these players off while at the peak of their abilities. Fair enough, but do you really want thisadministration and it’s checkered trade record deciding the fate of this franchise for the next three to five years?

Furthermore, there is a core in place offensively that is still young, controllable and can be built around. Christian Yelich, Giancarlo Stanton, JT Realmuto are a part of this core. Marcell Ozuna and Justin Bour to a lesser extent. Many people who likes to talk Marlins baseball act as if there is only one way to re-stock a farm system, via trade. That’s certainly the quickest way, but you can also draft wisely and deftly scout the international market. I don’t know about you, but I’d love to see how a new ownership group handles this aspect of the operation. I’d love to see them be given the chance to surround this offensive core with pitching harvested from their evaluation methods.

Again, there is absolutely an arguement for shipping off players now. Show me a contract coming up at season’s end, I have no problem with that player being moved. If the team weren’t in the midst of being sold, I’d be actively advocating for several players to be dealt. But not in this scenario. Not by this ownership.

Maybe, despite the theoretical benevolent new owner’s best efforts, what we’ve come to lovingly know as a fire sale is inevitable for the Marlins and the new ownership group. So be it. Let it be their decision to embark on such an endeavor. Don’t leave it to Jeffrey Loria."

Which big name FA SPs were available last off season?

The thing your missing is that this isn't Loria's fire sale, he doesn't wanna gut this team. He wants this team to succeed for Jose. If he wanted a fire sale he wouldnt have went all in for 2017. The ones who most likely do want a fire sale are the next owners. They're most likely gonna wanna try to do a rebuild like the Cubs and Astros did and like the Braves and Phillies are currently doing.

You want Loria to leave so the next owners can give this team a chance to compete now but you're gonna be shocked to see that the next owners are gonna want a fire sale more than Loria does.

I'm not sure he went all in for this season or not and who knows what would be the plan for the new owner.

There's undoubtedly some guys that are going to be gone that we're going to be upset about.  Loria can't be the one in charge of the gutting though.

Just a few years ago, we had one of the strongest farm systems there was.  Since then, we've had several big name free agent failures with absurd contracts that we had to give away - we have a couple of more now.  We have next to no pitching, very few reasonable prospects (and one of the weaker farm systems in the league), half a billion dollars in debt and counting.

We have continued to lose trades (acquiring cash in most deals, and now we know why - Loria/Marlins are broke).

I love Stanton, but that contract is a bit excessive.  Unfortunately, somebody like him should get us a decent return, but we're going to be giving him away because of the contract.

Yelich's contract is actually an asset, and hopefully won't be moved.  If he was traded, we should get a decent haul for him, but also getting rid of a great young player, who will be a bargain through his prime.

I hate seeing guys like Prado go, but I understand it's a business (I bet we get a few c prospects & cash).

You've got to lock up guys like Bour & Realmuto while they can be signed to mutually beneficial contracts - they can be looked at as assets then too.

Ozuna is the one that hurts, IMO.  He should have been locked up already.  He'd be a great piece to build around, or if we trade, he would've been a much more valuable trade piece w/ a contract.

Remember, we very easily could have had Albert Pujols or CJ Wilson sitting on our roster - thank God that didn't happen.  We'd be losing about $85 million a year instead of $50 million.

Seriously, who the fuck gave this guy a baseball team???

Didn't they make an effort to sign Ozuna to a deal?  It was going to be difficult anyway and now probably impossible, Boras doesn't help matters.  He has increased his value though so they could get a good haul for him in trade if they have to.

There was a dispute between Boras & Samson regarding Ozuna being optioned to AAA when he was in a slump.  The demotion hurt his service time, and delayed his arbitration.  It was amplified w/ Samson mouthing off about cutting Boras out of contract talks with Jose.

Marlins management vs. Scott Boras - my money is on Boras everytime.

Miguel Cabrera gives us a good haul, too…

Hey @taiwanmarlin be happy Mike Hill says most of the controllable young offense is currently untouchable and he specifically mentioned Ozuna Yelich Realmuto and Bour as those names. He said theres been no talks on Stanton. And he said they'd rather trade away pretty much any pitchers except for maybe Straily.

Be aware that all of that can change but basically what I'm saying is that so far they're agreeing with you. They won't just trade everyone for the sake of a fire sale and most of the offense should stay put.

I read that as, we'll trade away obviously useless parts to help restock the farm and then the new owners can decide what to do with the bigger trade pieces. I like that plan. Maybe MLB had a say in that.

To me,the only obviously useless parts right now were Locke,Ziegler,Nicolino and Worley…

right I remember all that, just thought they'd looked into a deal with him too, I could be wrong.  I think I'm in the minority siding with Ozuna during that mess actually.  But yeah the Boras factor makes me think it's just a matter of time.

C'mon guys,we got good offense,we got good defense,we got good bullpen,we got 3~4 good SPs,so what we need was 1~2 good SPs,right !?

We have several bad pieces in our bullpen... we have no real depth in case of injuries or underperformance and the 1-2 good SPs that you want aren't readily available to be had. It's not as easy as you think.

Everybody knows that the 2017 off-season's FA SP group was much better than the 2016's,so it's just up to the new owner's determination to do it or not…

The Rockies want Ramos to bolster their bullpen. Marlins should absolutely do that. I'm not farm expert but I'm pretty sure the Rockies have plenty of prospects that would be nice to have here and they might overpay to get AJ.

That's the kind of guy that should be traded.
