August 1, 20179 yr Here's Buster Olney's assessment of the marlins moves, "They dumped salary, moving veterans such as Hechavarria and Ramos, and that’s always ugly." that's all he has for the Marlins. The only team he just clearly ignored when grading the trades. Do I have a problem with calling the Ramos trade a dump? Not really. It shows he didn't even bother though by ignoring Phelps and focusing instead on Adeiny who was replaced by Riddle, who, although is not anything close to being an all-star (per his mother) is still better, younger, and cheaper than Adeiny. Adeiny is terrible for the Rays too - after his hot start with them, although Buster mentioned acquiring Adeiny was a sign the Rays were trying to go for it lol. Let's be real here. Why would he put in effort for such a tiny audience? Like 12 marlins fans would have read his grade.
August 1, 20179 yr I can't remember the last time I actually listened to something Buster Olney had to say. Guy is an idiot. I wish they would have unloaded some bullpen arms but I guess that will have to wait for the offseason. Hoping that Tazawa and Zeigler can build up some value to unload either by the end of the month or in the offseason.
August 1, 20179 yr I would make my choice of keep rooting for this team or not after the next off-season.
August 1, 20179 yr I would make my choice of keep rooting for this team or not after the next off-season. Will you be holding a press conference? I'm sure it will be breaking news on Fox Sports Florida, and maybe ESPN.
August 2, 20179 yr I would make my choice of keep rooting for this team or not after the next off-season. this off season or the next year one? make up your mind man stop acting like @SilverBullet1929
August 2, 20179 yr Will you be holding a press conference? I'm sure it will be breaking news on Fox Sports Florida, and maybe ESPN. Yes he will be taking his talent to the Bay Area and root for the Giants
August 2, 20179 yr this off season or the next year one? make up your mind man stop acting like @SilverBullet1929 2017~18.
August 3, 20179 yr We all can't wait. Come on dude, lay off the guy a little. I know you disagree with his opinions, but it's pretty cool to have someone from the Republic of China who follows the marlins and is enough of a fan to post on this board. Let's not chase the man away.

August 4, 20179 yr It's why I dislike Frisaro (it's my first time to dislike a mlb writer),he's always so arbitrary to this thing and acted like he's the owner of this team or the best GM of the world.
August 4, 20179 yr Under a new owner that has deep pockets and wants to roll the dice, sure. Why not? Are you guys really looking forward to 5 years of rebuilt? Maybe we can have a couple of exciting seasons before a rebuild. Rebuild the rotation and pen with some FA signings and lets go. If it doesn't work, blow it all up. So what? We're used to it.
August 4, 20179 yr Agreed. Why let this group of morons do anything to rebuild? Let the new owner take their shot and if it fails, then start rebuilding. Absolute stupid to start trading off controllable assets at this point
August 4, 20179 yr I believe this was a core that worth to keep,if we didn't keep it than that's because the owner didn't want to spend those money and not because they're not worth to keep…
August 4, 20179 yr But he is speaking the truth. Even Joe knows that is the best thing to do. Anything is possible, nobody knows what's the best thing to do…
August 4, 20179 yr I still don't see which FA starting pitchers the Marlins could realistically sign and I still don't see how either the incoming or outgoing ownership groups could afford to spend the amount of money required anyway given that the team is losing $70-80 million/year. It's going to be difficult to sustain a $140 million payroll (probably the range of what it would be if the Marlins entered the FA starting pitching market) when attendance is averaging only 1,800 more fans per game than what attendance was at the football stadium in 2011. So who could the Marlins realistically sign? And how on earth could they afford them if the team is already broke? I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I feel like the "why are we even sellers?" and the "don't rebuild!" people here consistently ignore these two very important hurdles. I think maybe we didn't need a new owner, because most people here think the new owner was just another "Loria".
August 5, 20179 yr If new ownership wants to spend. a rebuild is unnecessary. As long as they are smart about it (unlike the 2012 Marlins)
August 5, 20179 yr Buying an entire rotation on the open market as Free Agents is probably one of the absolutely stupidest things you can do. Which is why I guess its Mike Hill's modus operaudus. Marlins dont really have a choice but to rebuild. There arent enough quality starters on the market that will make a difference and they dont have the necessary resources to acquire the starters they need. Jose Fernandez killing himself like a fucking immature idiot because he couldnt be controlled is really fucking this franchise, tbh. Those are the arms you have to develop and build around. Now you really have no choice but to break it down and start over (not with this group, they are too inept). I hope hte new owner comes in, announces a 5 year plan, tears it down to the studs and then builds a 10 year winner.
August 5, 20179 yr Well, if they want to spend, the majority of that money spent on payroll wouldn't be coming from the team's revenue. That seems like a bad business decision. It's a very expensive gamble, yes. I wouldn't do it. But then again I wouldn't buy a professional sports team anyways because it's a bad business decision. Buy a rotation. Assemble a pen. The only acceptable outcome is a ws win. Miss the mark and go full rebuild. It would cost the new owner like 80 mil. Maybe someone who's dumb enough to buy the Marlins is dumb enough to roll the dice. It would be more exciting to see than a rebuild anyways.
August 5, 20179 yr Buying a rotation is generally the worst business decision a small market team can make. Look at how much the Marlins pissed away at Chen and Volquez. Not every FA SP signing would got the BAD RESULTS,you got the good luck and the bad luck.

Yea,it's always be the money of the owner and not us,I just don't know why everyone here would always acted like their financial planner,if they want to spend than just let them do it,remember,it's not our money.
