Look at urena last year, did you expect him to have a good season as he did. This organization is looking pretty deep in pitching, and that's without seeing trevor Roger's and Braxton Garrett, sandy is gonna be a good pitcher or dominant close same as Guzman. I say look out, it's the position players that are lagging behind. I too hope the fluke continues, but Urena wasn't great last year. 5.20 FIP and 1.273 WHIP and he doesn't miss that many bats. April 30, 20188 yr Did you guys read the stuff from both Mattingly and Caleb Smith about how he suddenly got this good? Mattingly says the coaches were noticing in all his bullpen sessions Smith was throwing like a bad ass but then in games he'd throw like crap and they figured it was a confidence issue, not trusting his stuff to get hitters out and basically pitching scared. They spoke to him about it and told him to just challenge the hitters and the last two starts he's been on fire. This seems like an example of great coaching and growth in the player himself. All things considered this is the kind of stuff that this season is about. More of this positivity please!

June 25, 20188 yr I think they'll give Brett Graves a shot before calling up Alcantara. Remember Graves is supposed to be a starter and has to stay here all season or be lost. In a sense his situation is more imperative than calling up Alcantara which is gonna happen soon enough regardless.

June 25, 20188 yr What about Gallen. He has been the most consistent starter in the minors. He hasn't had many bad starts. Alcantara I feel like has been okay? but nothing to write home about. And just to throw out a crazy name, how about giving Jordan Yamamoto a start.

June 25, 20188 yr Jordan is in Single A He is in High A. And to be fair Hernandez pitched in single A before making his debut, and Elieser doesn't have near the numbers. lol
