June 12, 20188 yr I don’t think Severino or Holly are bad on their own. They’re both singularly fine. I just don’t think they make a good combo for a number of reasons. We are in a weird spot with announcers One thing I'll say is neither of them are particularly exciting at any point. Severino is very "matter of fact" in his commentary, Hollandsworth isn't bad but rambles a bit too much sometimes and sounds too much like Severino. I agree with @SonOfJack, they're good guys and should catch on somewhere if it isn't here. Maybe Holly goes to do what Tommy is doing right now and T-Hut comes back into the booth, and Severino can always return to MLB Network.

For Holly though he came here after having done pregame for the Cubs. So if it all ends up with him doing pregame for the Marlins is that an offer he would accept? Severino feels designed for national broadcasts so I agree with you on MLB network taking him back. But if he’s polished enough to do that job maybe he just needs time for a local market job. Severino/Hutton could work. Maybe they should have two teams that rotate: Severino/Hutton and the Minervini/Hollandsworth. With Dave Van Horne getting up in years maybe they could assign radio to Severino on days when Minervini calls games. Geffner keeps current role. There are possibilities here to incorporate everyone frequently and get rid of the Severino/Holly pairing. Of course where does that leave Rich Waltz

Of course where does that leave Rich Waltz Craig is currently on a limited broadcast situation, what was it, 10 games he's going to call? Roaming reporter generally. Rich does national broadcasts for different sports every so often, so he could still do that and Craig fills in during those times. It's an idea. I'm hoping Rich comes down to Orlando again to call a UCF game. Would love to meet him.

There may be some sort of "political" reasoning behind it, I notice pretty much every team now has a roaming female reporter, so that may be your real answer. If we could get Allison back, that'd be awesome, but she's doing well with ESPN.

I just haven’t liked Blaylocks work since the beginning. But I guess Allison was a tough act to follow. its good to hear Tommy again
June 12, 20188 yr I think we're all jumping the gun here. Severino was just hired and Hollandsworth is only in his 2nd season. These guys have contracts and neither guy is doing their job poorly. They won't just kick these guys to the curb for the nostalgia of bringing other guys back, nor should they. It'd be pretty wrong to do that. With that said, I'm sure there are many ways they can include Tommy Hutton more but pushing Paul and Todd out isn't the way.
