I'm not saying they will be this way forever. It behooves them to improve and I'm hopeful they will.  But I'm not sure paying and waiting around for that to happen is the right approach. Maybe watch from afar.

Either way I still think next season is still just a bit too soon for the rebrand, or at least I wouldn't get your hopes up for it. 2020 seems much more likely in my opinion.

But realize it went from practically non-existent to at least OK due to the trades, and we're not done building yet - as @SonOfJack has said, gotta give him a couple years at least. The Stanton trade was never going to get us much due to having to completely dump the contract on the receiving team.

Cause it's a hell of a lot of money. Think we agreed on $30M, IF Stanton doesn't opt out? How much more, feasibly, would you have wanted us to send? Remember, the new group is coming in with debt.

 

Now the Yelich deal on the other hand, that could have been covered up to about half [maybe slightly more] and that would have been good for a better return.

I haven’t caught up in the thread yet and it might have been answered but we didn’t get the 2012 update leaks until either the night of or night before of the fashion show. The only leak was of the home jersey on a ticket stub. They did a pretty good job of keeping it quiet. 

 

Nowadays with leaks it’s hit or miss and some times how big of a hit. The Lakers leaks were the epitome of a crap storm whereas some other teams have been able to keep it under wraps longer.

That’s exactly right about the leaks.  However we knew there would be a new uniform.  This year the question is will there be new uniforms in 19, 20, or sometime thereafter

I don’t remember that, but not doubting you at all. I know we were all guessing on the colors based on the Marlins Park logo.  Uniforms they did a good job  holding out on.

 

Now that I’ve caught up, I still think we will see the new update next year. It’s one of the few thing Jeter can do in the short term to boost some interest and retail money when next season won’t likely be better I think Jeter had already chose Teal before they even did the surveys. Might be a rush job but I think it’s something they probably want to get done as soon as possible to establish this new owner  era of Marlins.

No I remember seeing the new logo like a month and a half before the official reveal. I do remember the home jersey on a ticket stub the night before the event but I do remember seeing this exact pic several weeks before...

I believe its a two year process for uniform and logo changes. After the design is approved with input from MLB, they have to confirm with manufacturers and distributors and give them a chance to stop producing the old stuff and move it out.

 

Year one: Design, testing and approval.

Year two: move existing inventory, ensure merchandising can be done (remember the 2 million stitches in the 2012 rebrand for the M and the random orange-red color), and allowing the companies a chance to stock the colors we need.

 

I see the Marlins going and using the Mariners Pacific NW Green, since its readily available for jerseys and caps- and a darker color for a modern uniform and a chance to sell more merch instead ofthrowback stuff being dug outta closets

The M marlin was leaked in October by George Richards of the Miami Herald while he was on a roadtrip covering the Florida Panthers.

 

The New Era store in buffalo (the  league supplier) let the cap slip into a factory GOOFs bin, and Samson and everyone decided to deny it until the day of the unveiling. They were right, the cap wasn't the one they'd wear. The MLB batterman would be black and orange with white rather than the Blue/Orange and White on the cap he bought. The Orange cap sold to fans at first had the blue batterman too. I think the logo is smaller as well than what we went with.
