Attach Bednar to B. Reynolds, and go in hard with two of Watson, Meyer, and Eury, as well as one of Bleday or Burdick. What are they going to do - hold that deal up for a reliever?

Then maybe trade Floro for a young club controlled lefty..... because that then makes sense.....

Agreed. Bednar with Reynolds, or Sulser with Mullins.

I know Reynolds is the hot name as of late, but I still think it’s going to be Mullins. Give them Meyer, Cappe/Nunez, Dax Fulton, Victor Mesa Jr.

I'd take either happily, but I want Mullins more for some reason.

Not really sure I am sold on Bednar as a true high leverage guy.  I'd prefer someone who has done it for more than one season and in true high pressure situations.  While Bednar might be a good reliever long term, not sure he at this time actually meets that critera (to me).

Slusser even more so.

This is oddly worded... they don't wanna put all that money on him because they would think it's an overpay and he isn't worth all that money, right? The tweet makes it sound like he's really great and they don't wanna spend money on a great player. That's two different things actually.

This is a dumb take.

Unless the Marlins said they were going to sign Nick (they never said so), nothing changed.

Plus they could get better players than Castellanos and not spend as much money. It's such a false take that spending money = better team. Just get better, if that involves spending then sure but the end goal is being better, not spending money.

The Correa move would be the best of all. Move Jazz to CF, Miggy to 2B and plug Correa in. You can't understate his age.

Keep your prospects, and I bet one or two will surprise you mid-year.... or fill gaps at the deadline.

Let's do it.

I’m definitely not in the camp of saying “they screwed this up, where are the moves, where’s the splash signing, etc etc”. However, I do think they’ve done a pretty poor communications/PR job this far.

Stop telling fans how much money you have, how committed you are, how you’re going to do something. Just do it. Go through the process of making that big move, finish it, close it, and then have your press conference

It's the start of spring training, the media has multiple interviews with the manager, owner, the GM, and others. They've gotta say what they gotta say. If they did what you said and just stayed quiet people would be pissed too.

Hate this belief of fish holding tightly prospect with the hopes they may pan out I.e, burdock, bleday.

such a dumb way to operate a franchise.

To be fair, lots of franchises operate this way. Even the Yankees have been harshly criticized by their fans for doing this in recent years.

I'm not saying it's the right way to operate, but I can understand why teams (especially teams like the Marlins that rely heavily on their farm systems because they don't have deep pockets) do so.

There needs to be a balance. You also can't dump all your prospects away for nothing like Loria did.

Especially when you are a franchise that is not typically known for making big splashes in free agency.

And it's not as if we've been 100% prospect hugging either, thankfully. Team has shown willingness to trade some prospects.

Just need to be a little more loose on their grip with some of the higher ranked ones.

If Meyer and Watson ball out in Pittsburgh, I'm ok with that.

I'd be skeptical on losing both Meyer and Watson though, especially Watson. I can understand hesitation there. We have plenty of pitching.

We've got Salas and Lewis and Cappe, too. All of them are 2 or 3 years away at a minimum.

Meyer and Watson balling out in Pittsburgh would definitely hurt.

This is the problem with trading away prospects. It's a huge risk, so you need to be smart about it.

Would it hurt if Reynolds was a key piece in multiple playoff runs, though?

Nope, but it would if Reynolds regresses, or we don't end up making the playoffs and either or both of the prospects become superstars.
