Posted March 15, 20223 yr Who do you think will be the backup catcher for the Marlins on Opening Day?
March 15, 20223 yr Author I think it will be Alex Jackson because our team is very stubborn and won't want to admit how drastically they fucked up the Adam Duvall trade. Also, Jackson has power and will impress Mattingly in batting practice, so he'll get him into some games as DH, where he will go 0-for-4 with three strike outs and a ground out double play.

Eh, with Jeter no longer here, maybe it won't be the same? Edited March 15, 20223 yr by rmc523

Part of me thinks that Jeter was a big part of that stubborn element.

March 16, 20223 yr I voted Astudillo but I think both Fortes and Astudillo Honestly. La tortuga can play a lot of positions so he’ll make the roster on the virtue of versatility.

March 16, 20223 yr Yeah that's another thing. Having Stallings sure as hell makes the backup catcher less significant.

March 17, 20223 yr Alex Jackson sucks Nick Fortes is a solid option, limited ceiling probably but a somewhat safe floor as a backup catcher, would be a good option. Payton Henry cant hit worth a shit, but he can field the position quite well. Willians Astudillo would be fun to watch, he has played a few other positions, and by all reports is an ok defender. Not much power overall but will make good to great contact. My guess is that Astudillo will make the team and Fortes might as well, will depend on both the makeup of the roster and the size of rosters in the first month. Jackson or Henry making the team is a bad thing. Jackson particularly should be taken out back and shot, red tagged and told baseball is not for him professionally.
