May 17, 20224 yr Sandy struggled in the first two innings throwing 43 pitches and then RETIRED 20 IN A ROW! Took 57 pitches to get through innings 3-8. Marlins win 8-2. Avisail homered. DLC and Jazz with three hit games each. Al Pedrique is a human stop sign though lol
May 17, 20224 yr Meyer is starting tomorrow. Would make sense if it was in Miami, but if not he should replace Elieser by Sunday. Edited May 17, 20224 yr by FishFan95

I really wish DLC would just get some regular playing time. He's hit everywhere he's gone. Maybe the league will adjust to him again but maybe he'll adjust back to the league too. He's much more the type of player this team needs playing in this park than Soler and might be better than Jesus Sanchez for all we know. Until he proves that the babip% is a total fluke he's an upgrade in the lineup. They've given longer chances to guys that perform waaaaay worse than him. Sometimes guys just defy the stats.

Lol What more does he have to do to get a chance? Hit 1.000 and Don still gonna ride soler, Garcia, Sanchez. Look at Harold Ramirez, he was our best offense boost in 2019. What did the Marlins do? Wave the guy after his injury.

Those two are gonna play nearly every day. He CAN swap DLC in for Jesus Sanchez though.

But, given how bad Sanchez is vs LHP and DLC has hit them thus far (even if inflated), it does make sense to play him against all LHP over him. Then, he can peel off a random game a week vs a right hander when Garcia, Soler, or Sanchez need an off day and pinch hit against lefties (which is the original role for that roster spot). That should be a 3-4 day a week starter, and is really more about Sanchez not doing well than DLC doing well. This is more than a guy with a .386 career BABIP with limited power deserves, but this is their personnel until they want to commit to Bleday/Burdick/maybe Jerar. So basically - unless Sanchez starts showing some real improvement vs LHP, BABIP be damned. Good luck DLC. I hope that BB rate is real and you're hitting over .270 when the BABIP normalizes.

Ask Jorge Alfaro 2017/2018. That's what you and others about DLC sound like. It's like saying 2017/2018 Alfaro is who he is. The bottom dropping out is coming. You are just a fool of a baseball evaluator if you think a guy with a .414 BABIP (career .386) is going to hold up. It's that easy of an analysis. It's not going to be a surprise. It would be one thing if he had plus power, but he doesn't. The BB rate spike is interesting. Maybe he's a bench guy if the walks hold so he has a .320+ OBP, he has a beneficial lefty split, and plays above average defense in the corners and acceptable in CF. Currently, those later two are arguably happening so we need to see what happens when the luck dries with the hits. Is he hitting .220 or .260? But as stated, he should play over Sanchez vs LHP and get some random day off starts. He's definitely earned the lefties while Sanchez is figuring it out and Bleday/Burdick/maybe Jerar not ready yet.

I don't think anyone is saying he's the next Mike Trout, but for a team struggling with offense, you ride the hot player(s) until the guy isn't hot anymore.

May 18, 20224 yr Until the bottom falls out, if that should happen, shouldn't you run him out there? Seems like the inflated BABIP has been a recurring theme for his entire (short) career.
