How many of you leave the volume turned on on your personal cellular device for most of the day?  Do you just use vibrate (giggity) or keep it on silent?  I'm always irritated when I hear someone's stupid ass ring tone go blaring.  I respect it if it's just a basic ring because it sounds more professional but I don't need to hear a snip of Achy Breaky Heart so you can talk to mee-maw on the other end about cousin Jojo.  Dunno. This goes under a pet peeve of mine I guess (separate from idiots talking on speaker phone in public). 

Personally? I keep mine on silent 98% of the time unless I'm expecting a call then I'll set it to vibrate so I don't miss the call.

My phone is on silent mode 100% of the time. Even if I am expecting a call.

Vibrate. No ringing.

Vibrate! Actually I always wondered why it is called "Silent Mode" when it still vibrates. That sure makes a sound.

I thought vibrate was different from silent mode?  Silent mode is completely silent, vibrate buzzes, and regular plays audio (and sometimes vibrates too).  Silent means no vibration or sound, Sir.

My iPhone says "Silent Mode On" at the top and still vibrates. I think it may be a setting.

Fully agree, people's ringtones are stupid and if anything they're personal, there's zero reason for everyone in the zip code to have to hear it. Nobody cares what your ringtone is.

Mine's on vibrate 99% of the time, the only time I'll have a ring tone on is if I'm home and my phone is charging in the bedroom and I'm expecting a call that I can't miss. This is cuz the phone is not on or near me so if I'm in the kitchen and the phone vibrates in the room I wouldn't hear it. But if it's on you or near you then vibrate is enough because the only attention it needs to get is your own, not the attention of everyone in the room. That's the part most people don't get. Ringing was made when phones were stationary so that you could hear it anywhere in the house, which explains why ringing for a phone that's on your person is dumb. 

Yea speaker phone is misused too. That's for a group setting, like I'm talking to grandma but my kids are around and wanna say hi. Or if you're unable to use your hands and still need to keep talking but in a generally private setting. 

Anyone using speaker phone WHILE HOLDING THEIR PHONE has no fucking clue. 

Vibrate at home and recreational events, silent at work and important events.

 

Was at a restaurant a few weeks ago where someone had a klaxon alarm as their ringtone and they got calls every few minutes. If you're expecting that many calls, just put it on vibrate and on the table. The alarm was jarring and kept spiking my heart rate. Lol

Mine is on vibrate 96.3% of the time.

I just don’t know why others need to hear that I’m getting a phone call.

always on vibrate, the only time I will put the sound on is when I am taking a nap or going to sleep but still expecting an important call or text. That's maybe twice a year? 

Man, I can still remember the first time I saw some dude walking around on a bluetooth earpiece and I had no idea what it was.  It was in a convenient store and I thought this guy was talking to me but not making sense. Said "I don't know you man" and that's when I learned of the wireless headset thing.  2021 sure was a crazy year for me.
