Once again the marketing team with little to nothing to promote. Every other team can put their new players on a post like this one, but not the Marlins!

Marlins having to promote their opponent's stars to get people into the ballpark I guess. Even with Sandy and Jazz included, people know it's not enough to win and so not enough to get people in the ballpark so hey also come see Lindor and Verlander!

Translation: We're not very good so come out to see the good players we play against!

That’s genuinely embarrassing dude….

Idk if they see a neutral party like ESPN promote broadcasts using both of the teams players and said “hey, good idea”.  But that shit is like promoting your wife by pointing out how great her exes were.

Correct. But obviously this isn't Bruce and Kim so to me it's sad because there's people in marketing who know this is not the way but they have work to do and so it feels like this is the route they have to take. They probably hate it, it goes against everything they're supposed to do.

What on earth.  That's pathetic.

It's pandering to the Mets fans that live here because they know there aren't any Marlins fans and that we've not done anything to make new ones.

Imagine having such a shitty team that even for Opening Day you need to promote the opponent's players to try and sell tickets.

Imagine? Look a couple posts up, they're doing that now!

And in theory, you have the reigning Cy Young winner... you can literally just promote everything around him and that's ok for now, especially for Opening Day. The Mets stuff is cheap, low hanging fruit. They don't need to do that!

And I feel like the Marlins have had teams with lesser stars than Sandy and they weren't promoting opponents back then right?

Of course they weren’t, this is the worst marketing team they’ve ever had. They genuinely believe that bullshit Spanglish that no Hispanic would ever use (Like “Our Colores” 🤬🤬🤬🤬) is going to get people to the game? I’m telling you this as a Hispanic, no one fucking cares about if the games have a “Latin” connection. We care about baseball itself, none of the other annoying distractions. They treat the actual baseball part of the team like a pill you’re trying to hide in your kid’s Mac and cheese to get them to eat it. Like bro, we don’t need a club, salsa band, or fucking mermaids, just field some freaking competitive teams!

ok, rant over lol

I've been saying for years that the excessive pandering to all things Latin because "Miami" is annoying.  Put together a good team and people will come out regardless of the other things.  Why this is so difficult to understand, I don't know.

Because it's cheaper to just do it this way

I dated this girl once for a few weeks, she used to date a professional surfer(apparently pretty famous in the surfing world, not that I would know or care) prior to me. I told that to my buddy expecting him to be impressed. He looked at me weird. 😂

Probably thinking “why did she settle for you then, you’re a professional surf and turf eater at restaurants.”

Well there you go, a real life example of the marlins marketing department. You looking for work?
