April 23, 20233 yr Well, Sampson does have a lot of first-hand experience doing a sh*t job running the Marlins, so maybe his criticism is relevant. He wouldn’t know a well-run franchise if it smacked him upside the head, though. He does more projection than an IMAX theater. The guy got some not particularly impressive educational credentials, then founded a business to get newspapers physically across the pond which folded because INTERNET, then spent two years at an investment bank, before his step father hired him. His first franchise was nearly contracted, and the Marlins were an embarrassment throughout his tenure.
April 24, 20233 yr What a waste of time that article was. Anyway......from day 1, I thought that "Project Wolverine" was WAY too optimistic in its attendance projections. And it completely ignored the damage done in the market by endless rebuilds and broken promises that ownership doesn't seem to understand. They just though they'd utter the name "Jeter" and that would automatically make droves of people would come out. Couple that with their inability to draft any hitters, no spending, and no on field success aside from the 2020 season they didn't try to build on, and well..... That said, they did get a new TV deal, did get a naming rights deal.......and still didn't spend like they should lol. But Samson acting like he ran things perfectly is typical Samson and hilarious. April 24, 20233 yr I noticed something funny.. On David Samson's Wikipedia page it lists his height next to his birthday at the beginning of the article: That's very unusual. I don't think I've ever seen that before on any of the other hundreds of Wikipedia articles of individual people I have read over the past 18 years or so. I'm wondering if maybe it was added by someone who was trolling or if he added it himself because of ego reasons and wanting everyone to know his height. Either way, thought it was funny/interesting.
