June 5, 20233 yr Lots of Marlins fans yesterday got quite mad that fans boo'd during Sandy's third inning. I don't see the problem with it. Would it be an issue if we boo Jean or Stallings or Cooper given their underperformance? Would you have boo'd Sandy yesterday after his throwing error and giving up 5 runs to Oakland in that inning? Consider he has had that one blow-up inning in a bunch of starts this year.
June 5, 20233 yr well, you know I wouldn't care if he was booed (he deserved it) but I'm an asshole so maybe someone with a softer side like @Admin could answer here?
June 5, 20233 yr on a side note I think Sandy literally needs to go on a meditative retreat or something and work out whatever dumb shit he has going on inside his head that's making him have that blow-up inning in literally 90% of his starts this year. I still believe it's fully a mental issue and he just starts chucking trash up there and letting everything snowball when one thing doesn't go his way. I'd gladly accept a 15 day IL stint for mental health reasons if that meant we got out ace from the last few seasons back.
June 5, 20233 yr Are they booing Sandy specifically or just booing the whole team when an error leads to a really bad inning. I wouldn't boo Sandy but it's ok to do like a general boo when your team has a bad inning as they walk off the field. That feels more like saying "what the hell was that?" as opposed to a direct "Hey Sandy you suck!" boo. Maybe I'm crazy, feels different. Boo the general team performance as opposed to booing one hard working player who is just having trouble in the hardest sport in the world. And yea Sandy is struggling but come on, there are plenty worse players here who have never done much of anything and they don't get booed. Sandy's 2022 should exempt him from any booing in 2023.

Naw dawg. He allowed Oakland to score 5. Boo.
June 5, 20233 yr Author People saying it's unjustified and "Sandy won a Cy Young last year!" Sure. Last year. Where has that been this year? Where are we if Sandy is Sandy? We're where we are DESPITE Sandy and that's amazing. If he figures it out then we're in a good place. It also makes me laugh that they want people to care and then get mad when people show that they care and don't accept lackluster play.

I think it got him locked in and angry which helped him right the ship, yes. We'll see how his next start goes (Chicago, Saturday, another bad team).

June 5, 20233 yr Author It does also help that ... it was ... Oakland. Which to me justifies the boos more. Sandy should have gone CGSO against them.

Fair enough, but I don't think Sandy's bounceback yesterday had anything to do with the boos. The dude had been one of the best pitchers in baseball up until the first two months of this season. Saying he recovered because of the boos is essentially saying that he wasn't giving 100 percent and then decided to start doing so after the fans got on his case. I just don't think that is what happened.

I do think the boos angered him and he just locked in with more of an F You attitude. Now we might see that the rest of the way. Maybe. Hopefully. Sandy returning to Sandy form could get us to first.
June 5, 20233 yr Booing him is ridiculous because he’s good. Booing Segura and Garcia is fine because they’re bad. It’s pretty simple.

What does your BMI say about this? What if fans are booing the overall lackluster play and not the player themselves? Does that change the opinion?

June 5, 20233 yr im sure most of us scream horrible things at Sandy and others while we're watching the game at home - we're saying things that are much worse than "boooooooo". So because he can't hear that it's ok we say it at home but it makes us a dumb fan to yell boooo in person?
