hovertical
What's one thing you always wanted as a kid that your parents would say "NO!" to that as an adult you ALWAYS get now? For me, it's extra cheese on pizza. I ALWAYS get extra cheese on pizza now. I refuse to ever be under-cheesed when eating pizza. I made that vow to myself as a kid and I stuck to it as an adult. SirFishFan
Cookie Crisp cereal and all other sugary sweet cereals with cartoon animal mascots on the box. Always wanted those but had to eat oatmeal almost every day. Now that I look back I realized they did me a huge favor but still I wanted that Cookie Crisp cereal so bad! And we’ve had this discussion before but I definitely think that cereal tasted much better when I was a kid in the 90’s. I bought some of the rereleased French toast crunch awhile back and it’s just not the same at all as it was like when I tried it once in ‘97. It's funny: I would much rather have a bowl of oatmeal than a bowl of cereal (even though oatmeal technically is cereal).

Oatmeal will never surpass cereal in terms of sheer enjoyment!

They turned to mush while you were taking the cap off the milk.

SilverBullet
Delicate balance between "food was really better back then" and just being an old fuck bitter about everything now. My in laws insist the Whopper was twice the size it is now when they were younger... that seems like a stretch. Sure fast food quality has probably gone down and companies cut corners and things change in general but I'm pretty sure the Whopper is a standard size burger as far as the weight of the meat. To think it's gone down half its size seems unlikely.

I was a picky eater as a kid so whatever I wanted I got it or I might not eat anything else. So I don't remember being told no for food, well I guess except the extra cheese that I mentioned before from my cheap parents 😅

For instance, I used to get burgers plain with just ketchup.
