Yea Bell was like Cooper, they weren't very flexible either, Arraez might be a bit more flexible even, but they were huge targets. Bell is 6'4", Cooper was 6'5", and Arraez is 5'10".

Yes, Kim will likely leave soon for the same reason good players here eventually always do, someone else will pay them more than the Marlins would. It doesn't always work out tho, the creativity GMs and coaches need when restricted by owners might be their best trait, and when placed in a situation with unlimited resources like the Dodgers or Yankees, they don't offer much from their creativity besides throwing money at top coveted free agents.

Kim hasn't done anything that warrants some massive contract as a top 5 GM in MLB lol.

If she stays she'll get a probably top 10 contract though, which, whatever. I wish her current contact ran one more year because she hasn't earned a 5yr deal (which is what I'm betting she gets)

Bruce won't save much by hiring a new person either so I fully expect her to be back for the foreseeable future much to everyone's delight (unless SHE wants to go elsewhere).

A) unfinished business here - as much as we joke about the clock starting, this year was her first year of full control, we had success but didn't go all the way, she probably wants to see it through

B) Though she's had some success here this year, she's had 2 bad years, but more importantly, she's also been turned down by every other club she's interviewed for in the past.  Yeah, her being in the job now helps in that regard, but it's still something to consider, IMO...

 

2) Then, we have to figure out Sandy - he'll probably try to rehab, but I fear he'll start opening day and THEN it'll tear, putting the timeline back further than it would be now.

 

3) Option guys - Soler and Bell - figure out what's going on here with the player options.

 

4) Other needs:

A) We always need pitching, even before the potential Sandy TJ - get a good vet starter - sadly our innings eater targets never seem to work out.  We'll have some guys coming back (Meyer, Rogers, Eury) if not traded, but we'll need help still, as their performance isn't guaranteed either.......and please stop "weekend at Bernie's-ing" Sixto....

B) Shockingly (heavy sarcasm).....3 years later....catcher is an issue - Stallings didn't work, though it was a good move on paper.

C) Shockingly (heavier sarcasm).....3 years later....SS is an issue.  It was dumb to not address it last year by signing even Swanson.

D) Bullpen - it'd be nice to get another BP arm - would a guy like Chapman be a good target?  He's not as elite as he used to be, but could be an option?

 

5) Overall thoughts - I'd like to see us figure out some targets that walk a bit more, hit doubles, and run/steal more......we need to be putting guys in motion more.  Why we weren't doing that to avoid DPs and just flat out attempting to steal more, I don't know......  with our park, guys that hit a ton of doubles would be perfect.

I think so also. She may be able to beat the money elsewhere if she tests the market but I don't think she will test it. She has to want to finish what she started here. I can't imagine another team offering THAT much more than Sherman will for her services. If Cohen wanted her and offered something crazy like $10 mil per, yeah then she may bounce. But that's not happening.

Yes, Sandy just should get the medical advice and get the tj if he needs it. No sense playing around with torn muscles and ligaments around the elbow. But knowing Sandy, yes I do think he will try to come back opening day and see how it goes. Trevor Rogers, Sixto, Max Myers, lot of past starters might start coming out of the rehab room next year as well.

Catcher-Fortes a few years ago was such a good hitter for a rookie. I remember thinking he was like a young Realmuto in the making. Great hitting, great speed, the problem was his defense. Now he's the opposite. Great defense and can't hit at all. He tries to pull everything and muscle it. Interesting to see how he regressed offensively as he progressed defensively. I wouldn't give up on him yet. The catcher on this team I notice are more like extensions of the pitchers they work with, they dont really care to hit.

Shortstop - Xavier Edwards. Skip and co. for some reason didn't see what was obvious to me that the lineup needs him.

Bullpen will always need help, looks like Nardi and Scott will be the back end again. Bender will be back?

Soler is likely gone. He'll opt out and get a huge contract from someone looking for power. I think if he leaves Marlins can make a offer to bring Giancarlo back and pay a fraction of his salary. I think he's work it if the Yanks dump him and eat half his salary or more. Marlins I think owe him $30 mil anyways still unless the Yanks dump him. I think working with Brant Brown would turn him around he get back to his old self.

Bell I think will leave as well. He might stay mainly cuz he won't get the value Soler would demand, but as we saw he was much better when working with Brant Brown, a lot of players get the most when working with him. As Bell is 'family man' tho i think the odds are he returns someplace where his family wants to be.

Yes we should be running more, hit n run, I think Xavier Edwards helps a lot with this and why I had no idea why he wasn't batting either behind Arraez or in front of him. Those 2 would compliment eachother so much in the lineup.

Not anyone that's really "expected" to make an impact as far as I know. There are always guys that just start having good seasons but nothing we can rely upon at this juncture (also why it will be challenging to make a significant trade imo)

Xavier Edwards and Dane Meyers certainly, Will Banfield if Stallings leaves, Troy Johnston if Bell leaves. Maybe Conine, maybe Jerar Encarnacion and Burdick if they learn to make contact. Maybe old friends Charles LeBlanc and Jorge Alfaro.

Yeah, I think it's about 90% likely she'll be back next season.  

Edwards needs to be out in the leadoff spot ahead of Arraez imo. At least TRY him there for a bit because if he can get on base and we actually start stealing bases - that's almost like an instant rbi to start every game.
