February 10, 200422 yr u all choose i am not 100% sure yet all i8 hope is the the answer is yes because marlins need support
February 10, 200422 yr Couple together a A World Series Win with a pathetic 2003 Dolphins season, and also keeping a huge amount of players....you have fans that believe in this team once a gain. Alot of people are frustrated with the dolphins and want to see a winning team also
February 10, 200422 yr Yeah it depends If the marlins start winning in the beggining then yes they will show up. If not, they will just show up for opening day.
February 10, 200422 yr I say we sell out Opening Day with 55,000 or so, but we'll go downhill from there. Anything under 20,000 is 100% unacceptable. So I predict around 18,000 this year, which means, no they won't show up.
February 11, 200422 yr well, we averaged 16,400 last year and we've already sold at least an extra 3000-4000 season tickets for this year. even if we don't have much of a shot at the playoffs, i still think it's pretty safe to say we'll be able to muster up 20,000. i'm hoping we can get something closer to 30,000.
February 11, 200422 yr Yes, attendance will be up throughout the year. Season ticket sales are higher, plus the team will get off to a faster start. Many fans who only went to a few games last year will go to a few more this year. I expect we will top 1.6 million this year......provided we are in the playoff hunt....which we should be.
February 11, 200422 yr bandwagoners dont know that baseball occurs april to october they only show up the last 2 wks of september to october
February 11, 200422 yr Any increase is good. A large increase would be great. Sellouts would suck though.
February 11, 200422 yr as long as people go im happy. the onlything that gets to me is where were all these people in seasons past ive been to tghe min of 20 games a year sence 1993.many complaine oh its to far(before) well guess where i live down by metro zoo. if you love the game and your team youll show up no matter what! now get out theren and lets go fish
February 11, 200422 yr well all i know is that there is a definite full house on opening day and hopefully for this whole season thats if the bandwagoners realize :chair that the marlins arent always going to spark up that magic to win a game.
February 11, 200422 yr As the eternal force of negativity I have to say no. Why, you may ask? Remember that a major deterrent is rain/heat/threat of rain/poor stadium issue. And in a perverse way the Marlins themselves are now the main publicists of the decrepid climate/stadium issue in their efforts to aquire funding for a new, roofed stadium. Terribly ironic and unfortunate, to be sure. But the Marlins have determined that they need to make the public realize how bad the problem is before they can get what they need to make the problem go away. Plus, realize that the stadium issue is the only baseball-related issue that gets off the sports page and onto the front page, so it's an issue with more public exposure than the winning/losing factor. With season tix sales still depressed (to put it mildy) the Fish are going to be heavily revenue-dependant on walk-up sales again this year. And we all know what kills walk up sales more than anything - Rain.
February 11, 200422 yr As long as there is no under 10K crowds ill be pretty happy. If we can avg 20 - 25K ill be happy 25K + ... mission accomplished
February 11, 200422 yr well, we averaged 16,400 last year and we've already sold at least an extra 3000-4000 season tickets for this year. even if we don't have much of a shot at the playoffs, i still think it's pretty safe to say we'll be able to muster up 20,000. i'm hoping we can get something closer to 30,000. if we average over 20K, I'll be ecstatic; it's not wonderful but it's certainly a welcomed improvement. And if we come out of the gate stong and are in first place or very close come May, I don't see any reason why we couldn't get 27K a game throughout the summer provided the winning keeps up.
February 11, 200422 yr Fillet has a point. Most of the arguments I've heard about not going to the games are because of weather/heat, not because the team wasn't winning. I think they'll pack the place for Opening Day, then it'll drop to the low 20's for most of the season. Hopefully I'm wrong & they top that number. I think it just takes time. It takes years to build a fanbase. But by the start of the season we'll know the team's stadium future. If there's good news there..... well put it this way, if 2 World Series titles & news of a new stadium can't get people to the games, I don't know what will.
February 11, 200422 yr I voted "only for opening day." I hope they come to stay, but I have to say I'm not optimistic
February 11, 200422 yr averaging 20,000 a game is too optimistic since season tickets will be about 8,000. If a new stadium is done by March 15, attendance could be far better. If no stadium, then the sellout will kill attendance. :hat The champ
February 11, 200422 yr in case you're wondering, here are our attendance figures from baseball-almanac.com: Florida Marlins 1993-2003 Year Ballpark Attendance Game Avg. Season Total League Avg. 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 Joe Robbie Stadium Joe Robbie Stadium Joe Robbie Stadium Pro Player Stadium Pro Player Stadium Pro Player Stadium Pro Player Stadium Pro Player Stadium Pro Player Stadium Pro Player Stadium Pro Player Stadium 37,838 33,695 23,783 21,565 29,190 21,363 16,906 15,134 15,765 10,038 16,290 3,064,847 1,937,467 1,700,466 1,746,767 2,364,387 1,750,395 1,369,421 1,173,389 1,261,226 813,111 1,303,215 2,637,470 1,843,416 1,793,589 2,169,949 2,277,526 2,401,674 2,380,436 2,480,194 2,481,346 2,309,294 2,273,813 Marlins Attendance Analysis considering we'll still be competitive next year and we've already sold an additional 3000-4000 season tickets from last year, attendance in the low-to-mid 20,000 range looks like a lock. looking at the historical figures though, it doesn't look like it'll be possible to top 30,000. in 97 we were duking it out with the braves to win the division... hopefully we'll be at the top this year. it's disappointing to think of it this way, but with an average attendance of 27,000, we'll still probably be below the average attendance in the league, despite winning the world series. :pullhair
