  1. Per:ESPN Wow :thumbdown Why would they fire him...i just dont get it...
  2. Got of the phone with Gabe Sandy (scout for the Marlins) and he told me that someone who am not allowed to name here told him that the Marlins have mettings next week with P.Martinez and Griffey Jr.'s agents... Now,this does not mean they are coming here or that some type of deal has been made so dont kill me if nothing happens... It could just be talks to see what it would take to get those guys here.... Lets see what happens.... Pedro has a home here and family and Griffey lives in orlando, both are in the ends of there careers and am sure would rather play close to home....
  3. I don't know if this has been posted yet. Brandon Spikes and Tim Tebow are returning for their senior season USC's Mark Sanchez has declared for the draft Clemson's Spiller still hasn't made his decision. Ole Miss Greg Hardy is returning for his senior season post any more as they go on. BTW, USC Coach Pete Carroll has already voiced his displeasure towards Mark Sanchez's decision to leave. Yea i saw that,Pete Carroll sounded and looked pretty pissed off. I heard he didnt even stay after the press conference and on his way out Sanchez went for a hug and Carroll just paded him on the shoulder and said goodluck and walked out... If i were Sanchez i would have told o'l Coach Pete to kiss my "ARSE"... He embarresed him in front of friends and family.... He's just pissed cause he knows the other QB's on the squad are still raw and Sanchez would be his best shot at a national championship next season...
  4. Why does Hollywood insist on ruining classics.... HONG KONG (AP) -- Mr. Chan may be the new Mr. Miyagi. Jackie Chan is in talks with Columbia Pictures to star in a remake of "The Karate Kid," a spokesman for the Hollywood studio said Thursday. Steve Elzer, senior vice president for media relations at Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, confirmed the talks in an e-mail to The Associated Press but didn't give further details. The plot of the remake will mirror the original, with Chan being eyed to play a mentor who helps a youngster stand up to bullies ? a role similar to Pat Morita's Mr. Miyagi in the 1984 film, Hollywood trade publication Variety reported Wednesday. The youth will be played by Will Smith's son, Jaden Smith, who starred alongside his father in "The Pursuit of Happyness" and appeared in the Keanu Reeves sci-fi movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still," Variety reported. The setting has been changed to Asia from California, with shooting due to start in Beijing this summer, according to Variety. The movie will be a co-production with state-run China Film Group, according to Variety, which would allow Columbia to bypass China's annual quota of 20 film imports on a revenue-sharing basis. Chan, who juggles careers in Hollywood and Chinese-language film, has been shooting the American film "The Spy Next Door," an action comedy about a Chinese spy working in the U.S. who loses his cover.

I dont know anything about his contract but i really like this guy... Play good LF or RF and hits for avg. and power... What do u guys think... Pudge...Nady...i'd like 1 more solid guy in the pen and were good.... We'd definatly be a contender
  6. Leave it alone.... MLB doesnt need a cap or floor.... It is proven year after year that spending the most doesnt garentee you anything.... Its all about the scouting.....If you have smart guys scouting like the Marlins do you'll always be in there.... The Marlins are always in it or 1-2 guys away from winning it all....But Loria is a cheap bastard that i hope dies of gonoria...
  7. Sam Smith of Bulls.com (and formerly of the Chicago Tribune) talked about the possibility of the Phoenix Suns trading Steve Nash to the Toronto Raptors in his Bulls blog on Monday. The deal looks like this: The Suns trade Nash, Leandro Barbosa and Robin Lopez for Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani, Anthony Parker, Jason Kapono and possibly Jamario Moon as cap filler. The trade itself doesn't seem too lopsided, but it would mean the Suns are giving up on a championship run just as things are coming together. Phoenix is 8-3 since the Jason Richardson trade, including buzzer-beating losses to the Spurs and Pacers, and a barnburner in Portland. Giving up Nash would end this era and put Phoenix into rebuilding mode. That's something the Suns' brass doesn't want to do yet, especially considering how well Shaq is playing. There are bound to be rumors galore floating around, especially as the trading deadline approaches, but this is one I wouldn't give much credence. Phoenix has to let this roster jell, and Steve Kerr knows that. But if the Suns suffer another first-round exit in the playoffs, next year is when things will get very interesting.
  8. Ricky got 94% of the votes... I want to know what idiots didnt vote for him.... Jim Rice gets in but eh i dont really care.. If he got it Dawson should have got in...thats my opinion... Mark McGuire acually lost 2 votes this year from last year...
  9. I would love for the Marlins to sign Pedro cause he is gonna come into this season with something to prove.... Reports are that he has been working out like a mad man getting in shape and has been throwing all offseason pain free.... As long as the amount he wants is nothing crazy i say get it done....
  10. ESPN Just put it on there ticker so it must be true....

Just found out.... Rumor is 100% true that there talking this morning. My source is never wrong
  12. INcredible. Great offseason thus far. I'd say much smarter way of approaching the season than the Yankees. Solid Solid signings thus far. The Red Sox moves have been less risky, if that's what you mean. How is it less risky? Smoltz- bad arm Penny- bad arm Saito- Bad arm Baldeli- Has a desease that makes him tired Kotsay- Hitting has gone down and has a history of injuries
  13. Source:MLB Rumers Thats going to be a nasty line-up if they land M.Ramirez
  14. Source ESPN. Good for them, they needed a closer
  15. I think its a good hire for them..... The Jets were doing fine till Farve starting playing catch with the other teams defense..... And you know the ownership told him noway you bench Farve...
  16. Good luck Carl... Wish the Marlins would have taken a chance on him....
  17. El Guapo replied to El Guapo's topic in Sports
I think he is looking for a multi year deal, nothing wrong with that. Maybe money isn't the thing to him, maybe he just wants to play. If its not about the money he should have taken the 10mil. and ran with it cause nobody is going to up that.... The only reason the Yankee's offered 10mil. was out of respect... 14-14 record and his arm died down the stretch.....
  18. Zero chance.... Look How cheap we could have had P.Burrell for and they didnt even try...
  19. El Guapo posted a topic in Sports
Source:ESPN Yea cause your so poor Andy....10mil. i agree thats way to small an offer, how are you going to pay your bills.... Have you been talking to Sprewell.... C'mon man take the 10mil. and finish your career in the Pinstripes you were born to wear.... Time to go after Derek Lowe,Ben Sheets,or at worst Oliver Perez....
  20. Guys listen.... Barry Bonds will never ever ever play MLB again... Bud Selig has made it clear to all ML Teams... Dont You think the Yankee's or someone else would have signed him by now....
  21. I'm 50-50 on A.Jones.... He needs to start hitting... I'm glad he's getting back into shape(buddy told me he's lost 35 pounds).I was told he's just way over swinging.Hope he gets it right cause he's always been fun to watch.... P.S. Marlins please get Pudge Rodriguez.....
  22. Me personally i dont think the Marlins are a joke because the players bust there a** every year and prove people wrong repeatedly even when they know the owner will always let them down by trading stars away and not getting help when they needed it.... As for J.Loria he is a fu*king cheapass penny pitching tighta** fu*king clown....
  23. Man i would hate to see this guy in a Mets uniform....
  24. 2008 record: 84-77 Finish: Third place in the National League East. 2008 Opening-day payroll: $21.8 million 2009 estimated Opening-day payroll: $23.5 million OFFSEASON ACTION For a team with yearly salary expenditures equivalent to, oh, an average Yankees free-agent signing or so, the Florida Marlins manage to pack plenty of action into their offseasons. While this year?s hasn?t matched the 2007-08 version in terms of heft ? that?s to speak of Miguel Cabrera?s weight as a player, not a person ? it has outdone last season by volume. The Marlins? winter purge has become an annual event for owner Jeffrey Loria, and jettisoned via trade so far are Josh Willingham and Scott Olsen to Washington, Mike Jacobs to Kansas City and Kevin Gregg to the Chicago Cubs. Next could be Jorge Cantu or Dan Uggla. And even Hanley Ramirez?s name was bandied about, according to SI.com. All, except Ramirez, are eligible for arbitration next season, and that means they?re in line for big raises. In Miami, that is unacceptable. So in come the latest pre-arbitration acquisitions ? Emilio Bonifacio, Leo Nunez and three prospects ? who hope to be just like the men for whom they were traded: good enough to eventually get spun to a team that actually cares. Holes do remain after the trades, particularly in the bullpen and at catcher. The Marlins can plug the pitching staff from within. Admin Beinfest and Mike Hill, the team?s brain trust, possess a knack for finding good pitching. The catcher spot, on the other hand, could use a veteran to handle the Marlins? young rotation. Like, say, Ivan Rodriguez. Who, of course, the Marlins won?t pay much more than the minimum salary. Which, naturally, takes them out of the race. Perhaps the Marlins could pluck a bargain free agent or two so they don?t enter the season with more than two-thirds of their roster making near the league minimum. Because, hey, this is a franchise with an excellent young rotation, one of the best players in baseball in Ramirez, a power-hitting force in Uggla, the exciting Cameron Maybin primed to take over in center field, Jeremy Hermida poised for a breakout year, Matt Lindstrom throwing 100 mph as closer, and with the right piece here and the right part there, they could contend. Yeah, right. Like Loria would actually go out and try to improve. REALITY CHECK Loria The Florida Marlins really should move to Detroit, because they are baseball?s version of the American auto industry. The product is decent. It would improve if money were diverted toward it. Instead, the business suffers because of greed. And worst of all, it gets huge sums of bailout money to continue propping up a poor model. How Loria, professional sports? preeminent miser, continues to propagate this farce without any backlash from his fellow owners or the players? association is a mystery. He receives more than $60 million in shared money every season. Yes, the Marlins? stadium is a sinkhole, and the Florida fans show no desire to support this team. Though the chicken needs to come before the egg? Right? That an executive of Beinfest?s talent puts up with the constant juggling ? it?s like Marlins players are college football stars, three years and gone ? highlights just how talented he is and makes him something of a masochist. Imagine what he could do with even Oakland?s payroll seeing as he has stocked the Marlins with not just their bevy of pre-arbitration talent but a minor-league system teeming with prospects. That?s the frustrating thing about the Marlins: They could be great. They have been, winning two championships in their first decade. Loria has lowered the bar so much that a no-brainer deal like the one Ramirez got last season ? $70 million over six years, the only Marlins deal longer than two seasons ? was huzzahed as a sign that the Marlins intend to compete. Not anytime soon, barring a dandy confluence where those minimum-salary kids turn into stars and the leftovers continue to succeed and the rest of the division regresses to the point where it?s for the taking. That?s not just the hope. It?s the plan. What a joke.
  25. The release comes with conditions that don't sit well with Marve. He can't play for teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Southeastern Conference or the state of Florida. It's not unusual for programs to place restrictions on the deal when a marquee player transfers. Thats some tough restrictions.... Guess they dont want it to comeback and bite then on the a**.....
