6/5 Post Game: Bullpen bulls**t
The Marlins would have to go 54-48 the rest of the way to beat last years record. Or win 53% of their games. They have currently won 27% of their games playing the easiest schedule in the majors to date. So basically you expect them to double their win frequency against a much more difficult schedule? We have win 27 present of our games because injury has kept the starting lineup off the field all year. We have Morison, Evoldi, Stanton, Solano all coming back off the DL soon and we have Yelich coming up soon so that coghlan can move to 3 rd base. So we won't have Pierre and polanco and terrible Greg doobs in the lineup everyday making us bad as bad can be. I think with those players coming up and coming from the fL we can definitely play over 500 the rest of the season. Why not? BECAUSE MATH Well I think you will get surprised by the record at the end of the year. 54 and 48 is definitely not out of the question and honestly I can see the team playing better then that when thu all are up and healthy. I can garanteed you that there is no way the team loses 100 games this season. Let's bet $20 the marlins lose 100 games minimum. Admin will hold the money. who is Admin? And I don't have alot of money 20 dollars is to much sorry.

Why is everyone so down on tis team?
I wore a marlins t-shirt to a concert last night and inbetween the 2nd opening act and main act the guy standing next to me says the following: "hey, i just have to ask - are you wearing a marlins t-shirt to be ironic or are you serious" when I reply that I'm simply a glutton for punishment and am indeed a marlins fan his response was "that's kind of disapointing ... i was really hoping you were being ironic" so yeah ..... it's easy to have good feelings right now Yeah but who cares what other people think. When we are winning our next World Series that guy will be right there with us pretending he had always been a fan. Just like the heat. That is how Miami is. I'm proud to be marlins fan I wear my hat all the time.

Marlins Baseball Members, do not fight. We must stick together and watch our hometown team. If you can't do that, the NBA Finals is on tonight. Let's go Heat! That is the truth right there!!!!! The marlins are off tonight so the only game I. Town is the heat. We are all in this together and it going to get better very very soon!!!!!!

Hi, I'm Jeff Mathis.
Defensive metrics have him as average at best. Throwing out runners has as much to do with the pitcher as the catcher. And the Marlins thoughts on catchers really doesnt impress me. They desperately wanted Mike Rabelo too. They were in on Yorvit Torrealba in the free agent market. Miguel Olivo was a two year starter. They gave John Buck an deal that was over market value. This franchise is awful at evaluating catchers. Some of what you say is true but sometimes you can't just look at stats you have to use the eyes to and my eyes tell me that Jeff Mathis is a hard as nails catcher with a canon and is a vacuum behind the plate. He is a bad hitter though theres no doubt about that. lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!! greatest post ever. Thank you Polly.

Hi, I'm Jeff Mathis.
he doesn't play stellar defense He has thrown out 7 out of 9 runners and calls a good game from what the pitchers say and gives them confidence to throw the ball low cause he is a vacuum behind the plate. He looks steller to me and to the marlins front office. They wanted him pretty bad and Toronto didn't want to give him up.

Trade Stanton, Seriously, Trade Stanton Now
Who would we want from Milwaukee? And if you say Ryan Braun, I'm using the stick. Braun makes too much money and we are loaded in the outfield with players that have potential to be comparable to him. I have always liked Gallardo though and if they throw in Axford and Aramis Ramirez we can fill alot of holes and I k ow the brewers would be stoked to get Stanton. Plus we would only have to face him like 6 times a year since he would be out west. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Seriously, there is no way this guy can be serious.Gallardo is 27 years old and is a lock for 200 innings, a sub 4 era and 200 strikeouts a year. Not having the best season so far but his track record is solid and he's a solid 6'' 3' and 215 pounds. We NEED another starting pitcher and he is one of the most underrated in the MLB. Aramis Ramirez is a future hall of famer with at least 3 good years left in him and can provide veteran leadership. Axford can take over closing duties where cishek has struggled (cishek will become the setup man). We can fill our holes big time with that one trade. And I know the brewers will eat alot of salary so we won't be tied down for years. We could become contenders overnight basically. I don't see how that's the dumbest thing you ever heard my friend. Think about it. YOU have to be kidding me!! If we wanted to win now and NOT rebuild we wouldnt have traded none of our guys this offseason. Why would be trade our FUTURE HR leader who is a once in a lifetime player for a washed up Ramirez, a bullpen arm which we dont need right now cause we arent winning enough games to close, and for a innings eater who we will end up trading come July 31 anyways? We arent taking in payroll. Stanton is GOOD, cheap, and in the Marlins guidelines and control for a few more years. Please, this isn't fantay league. Think about the future. We arent playing for now. We are building. If we trade Stanton, itll be to improve the future. You are untitled to your opinion bro but I think that trade would improve both teams and we can always trade aramis Ramirez for prospects next year if we are not ready to win yet.

Hi, I'm Jeff Mathis.
His job is to play steller defense and show brantly a thing or two on how to het it done. he has done that and more for us. Any hitting he does is a bonus. Besides he is coming off a major injury and didn't get enough spring training so this is like his spring training. He sucks as a batter but he's not a 071 batter. He will be right around 200 with around 8 home runs when the year is up. Maybe he will win a gold glove to if he keeps starting who knows.

6/5 Post Game: Bullpen bulls**t
I still think this team wins more games then last year. There is plenty of time to turn the ship around. We will be getting some studs back soon and from there we will start on the good path.

Olmos
And that contradicts your "never saw above 92" statement. 93 was his top speed I saw but he was regularly throwing like 91 or 92 and sometimes even in the 80s.
-
Olmos
Like i said when he was promoted. He's Andrew Miller. Can throw fast but has no control. I dont remember Andrew Miller ever throwing a pitch over 92 miles a hour. I know he was advertised as having stinky cheese but I don't remember ever seeing it. That is what I was so jacked about seing when we traded for him but I never got to see the stink. At least none of the games I saw.Miller consistently hit 94+, from my recollection. I Honestly remember seeing 91-93 all the time and being like THAT'S IT?

Cogs to start working at 3b
Yovani Gallardo and his 5.25 ERA and 1.47 WHIP would be an excellent #1 starter for us. You guys are blind. He hasn't been good this year which I mentioned when I first gave the idea about the trade. But he is a lock for a sub 4 era 200 innings and 200 strikeouts every year. Axfords has not been good either but can close and aramis Ramirez we would only have for 3 or 4 seasons before he declines. But we would only be giving them the one player and that player has never stayed healthy for a whole season and is a high risk if they want to sign him for monster money long terms which he won't do here even if we offer- and I'm starting to think its a good idea not to give him garanteed money to sit out half of the year every year of the contract. I'm in love with Satnton when he is playing but he hardly plays and it's a trend with him now.

Cogs to start working at 3b
Aramis Ramirez was just a suggestion and not the main part of the trade I suggested. The main part would be gallardo who would be our number one starter or 2 behind Fernandez if he develops. Axfords could close if olmos doesn't blossom and cishek continues to sink. It's a good deal for both sides especially if Stanton doesn't want to play here and keeps sitting out with minor injuries every year. He's a monster when he plays but he is a part timer now the marlins don't even consider him a full time employee. What 3 rd basemen would you suggest we go after?
-
Cogs to start working at 3b
I am not as concerned about coghlan's body as I am about some of the other players in the team because he looks athletic so he doesn't need to pack on the pounds. His arm is average for the outfield but he will have a canon for a 3 rd basemen on the infield. His range should be very good to. I'm looking forward to seeing him at the hot corner it would also increase his value also. Really the only bad thing is that he will never hit more than 18 home runs or something so we will have to get our home runs from other places even though the hot corner is usually a position that hits the dingers. If he can get back to being the hit monster he was in rookie of the year I can deal with less homers until we find a heavy bat to play 3 rd base down the road.
-
Cogs to start working at 3b
I have a feeling that Coghlan will be an above average first basemen. He is athletic and has a really good arm for 3 rd base. He doesn't have the power but the average will be there at least. Better then big head polanco or out of shape shoe salesmen Greg dobbs.

Trade Stanton, Seriously, Trade Stanton Now
I think a little beefing up will fix that Pierre doesn't need to beef up. He has a good body for what his job is to do. It's just that he is older now and that good body doesn't work as good as it did when he was a monster. I really like him and he has such a good artitude and leadership but he is not a everyday player no more. But beefing up wont help him because it is to late in his career for him to even worry about being a power hitter. We need more power. He should realize this, have a good attitude, be a good teammate and beef up. Selfish. It is to late in his career to start trying to hit for power. And he is to old to try beefing up now. His best days are behind him and he is a backup outfielder pinch hitter and runner at this point. Good guy to have in the clubhouse and infect everyone with his good attitude.

Olmos
Coaching in the MLB is light years better then in the minors. There's a much better chance of him being fixed up here
-
Olmos
I don't know what his problem was in the minors but I know he passes the eyeballs test and I like what I see. Now that he is getting better coaching in the MLB level he should be able to turn his fortunes around because he has lights out ability to be a monster closer in the NL if he can control his cheese.

Juan Pierre is not a beefcake. His core is weak. Its no shock his attitude is poor. When Juan Pierre was good it didn't matter if he was beefcake or not. That was never the kind of player he was he played stud defense and hit for a high average got in base and stole bases like a mad man. His problem is that he has gotten older and his bat speed is slower and he can't run as fast anymore and his arm isn't what it use to be and he can't run down balls in the gap like he use to. It has nothing to do with the strength of his core.
