Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) has been diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis and is listed as day-to-day. This qualifies as positive news after Ramirez was scratched from the lineup Wednesday. Speculation from rotoworld agrees somewhat... The agent for Ken Griffey Jr. said his client is drawing interest from four teams, including the Mariners. It was reported to be five teams earlier this month. The Rays likely were that additional team before they signed Pat Burrell. The Reds have displayed no interest in bringing him back. Atlanta and Florida still make some sense.

Marlins chose LHP Zach Kroenke from the Yankees with the 12th pick in the Rule 5 draft. Kevin Whelan and J. Brent Cox stay, but the Yankees did lose three pitchers. Kroenke is the best bet of the trio to depart. He had a 2.85 ERA and a 54/28 K/BB ratio in 53 2/3 innings last season, most of them coming in Double-A. We Took Zachary Kroneke LHP from New York Yankees from AAA He was 7-0, 2.85 ERA in 41 relief appearances with 28 BB, 54 K's last season between AA and AAA. Those are some nice numbers. Batters hit just .190 off of him. The Marlins reportedly remain interested in trading for Jarrod Saltalamacchia or Taylor Teagarden, but they may not be prepared to give up the "frontline" starter the Rangers desire. They'd be more up for trading Anibal Sanchez than Chris Volstad, Ricky Nolasco or Josh Johnson. The Marlins are also believed to be interested in Max Ramirez, whose price tag wouldn't be as high. Rumor is, the Devil rays and the Cubs are eyeing Hermida. Link? Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com speculates that Jeremy Hermida "could be the next arbitration-eligible Marlin to be traded." He adds that trading several other players means the Marlins "are now flexible enough to be choosy." According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Nationals have picked up Scott Olsen and Josh Willingham from the Marlins for Emilio Bonifacio and a package of minor leaguers. Two of the minor leaguers are right-hander P.J. Dean and infielder Jake Smolinski. Unless there's someone much better going to Florida that we don't know about yet, this could be a huge steal for the Nationals. We wouldn't trade either Olsen or Willingham for that trio, much less both. If the Marlins like Bonifacio that much, it could mean that Dan Uggla is on the way out. One option is to deal him for a catcher to start over John Baker, and the Rangers and Indians are both potential matches there with Gerald Laird, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Kelly Shoppach possibly available.
