Jack McKeon and his move tonight
I can understand why Jack did it and it is the small ball offense we've been crying out for but with Choi at the plate he's gotta let him hit, why didn't he do something like this with JP and Luis on base (they where on 4 times conbined) yet they only scored once on a cabrera single scoring JP from second. At the time i thought he should have called for a double steal, like the yankees done the other night, then the single scores two runs. It may be agressive thinking but that is what this team needs right now, a spark to lift it, start getting agressive Jack!!!

Jeter's catch
It was a very dangerous play to make and I would call that taking one for the team, Jeter knew where he was, knew the risk but he's a winner and he was going to make that catch come hell or high water! To see the guy make those type of plays and think that two months ago the Yankee fans were booing him, have a word with yourselves, call yourselves the greatest fans in the world?

Homestead
We should definately sweep one of those teams and win the other two series 2-1 but it is up to the players what they do and they know it. It wouldn't be too harsh to ask them to win 9 in a row considering who we are playing and where, but we should account for a couple of off days. I would predict 7 out of 9 but theyve let me down when I've predicted before in their favour so I'll go with 5 out of 9!

Homestead
Looking at the upcoming schedule we have 9 games in a row at home, now call me a miserable cynic but if we don't win at least 5 of the these games against weaker oppostion then we may as well not bother, this has to be the easiest part of our schedule this season and a perfect time for the offense to wake up and the Starting pitching(Pavano excluded) to get consistent!

Lets face it.
OK, now I'm sure that shortly after Pudge signed with Detroit that I read he was getting 16million over two years with the Tigers and he had turned down a 14 million two year deal (with an option to extend to a third year) from the marlins. So over two years he would have lost a couple of million. Now to us a couple of million is a helluva lot of money, but to a future hall of famer like Pudge it is like chump change. I heard recently of how David Ortiz accepted a 5.5 million a year contract to stay with the Boston Red Sox, when quizzed about why he didn't try the market and get more money? He replied that he was playing the best baseball of his career at Fenway Park and he wanted to stay there and continue being an MVP candidate (something he NEVER was in Minnesota). Also he, refreshingly added, '5.5 million is a lot of money'. Pudge should do some talking with Ortiz, might alter his reality. Fact of the matter is, Pudge turned down continuing to stay with his family, working with good young pitchers, being on a possible World Series team to go play for one of the worst teams in baseball history because he wanted a couple more million!

The Boston Red Sox
I thought it was frustrating to be a Marlins fan this season what with the little league batting order and all. But I feel very, very privelleged when I look at the Red Sox. Did anyone see that game last night? What a heartbreaker and they all know it as well, thats it! Yankees have won that division now, there is no slowing them down. I wouldn't like to be Tim Wakefield right now, having endured nightmares all winter and being asked over and over again whether he felt he was now part of the curse, then he goes out and pitches a helluva game and another infiled error causes him and his team the game! The curse lives on!!!

Who's your team in College Football?
I follow Ohio State in both football and basketball! I am British and had never watched a college game in my life until last September when I payed for a channel on cable featuring coverage on all american sports (including live college football and basketball). To make things interesting I decided to support a team, the only name that shot out at me was Ohio State because of the monday night clips where players like Joey Galloway, Ahmed Plummer and Nate Clements would say 'THE Ohio State university'. After that I watched 8 games live (football and basketball) and stayed up past 4 in the morning to watch us beat Kansas St. in the Fiesta Bowl! Don't like their chances this year though (No Clarett, Smith, Gamble, Jenkins, Sander, Allen, No Hope). Although I do like the look of WR Santonio Holmes, he could be a star!

who is the most popular florida marlins player?
Choi has a big fan base but that is helped by the asian fans and there Unbelievably good sense of patriotism, it seems that anywhere in the world if one of their stars is playing they'll show up and support said athlete! Personally I wish we where all like that. Anyway, JP and D-Train are my favs with Beckett a close 3rd!

Missing Pudge...
We definately miss Pudge, who wouldn't. He is one of the greatest catchers of ALL-TIME. Saying that I don't think we need a catcher! Redmond is batting near .400 with RISP and should be moved higher in the lineup a lot sooner than he was. BAT HIM 3RD!!! We need a LF, personally I wouldn't mind seeing Dontrelle playing there a couple of times a week! He can't be much worse at fielding than Cabs and we know he has a good arm!

Light a Fire for F*** sake!
I'm upset that there doesn't seem to be much change. All they have done is changed the lineup a couple of times and nothing has worked, We should be walking away with this division but at the rate we are going we could be 4th. Maybe I was too hasty in saying McKeon was joking but I'm not happy that on a night as frustrating as that one, he didn't have more too say. If he is ripping the offense behind close doors then he must have been doing it for about a month now and maybe a little rip in public would help. Thats what I meant by lighting a fire!

Light a Fire for F*** sake!
I Can't believe some of things I'm hearing after this latest debacle. They excuse the teams poor performance on a rain delayed that, last time I checked, both teams had to endure. And McKeon, instead of ripping the offense like he should, jokes about his wife going home before the game started!!!! I may seem harsh but I'm so pissed off with this team right now and it makes me more furious that the team don't seem to care as much!

Beckett...
I don't know, He was supposed to be the ace this year but you could make the argument that he has been the least effective out of our 5 all-star potential starters (Pavs, Penny, AJ, D-Train and Josh). But I do think he'll get better but I think a lot of us just expected it sooner. What he needs to do is what Penny and Pavano have learned recently which is how to fight through games when you don't even have your best stuff. It's amazing how many games those two have one this year when it has appeared they struggled throughout the contest.

Acquire a starter over a reliever?
Willis in the bullpen, gives us a break. Remind me, who has two out of our three complete games and is our best hitting pitchers by a mile?

1ST PLACE WORLD SERIES CHAMPION FLORIDA MARLINS!
That is one scary looking cat. Threaten the players with it. Tell them the cat will haunt them in the night if they don't go at least 2-5 with a SB or HR.

How to help Cabs!
Ive seen so many theories on what McKeon should do, so to settle it, all u Jack wannabes vote for what he should do. Personally, I say move him to 5th for a few weeks.

Tomorrow's lineup today
Ok, we all no McKeon won't let Willis DH (especially with Beckett on the DL) but why do some people on this board agree with him? We play NL ball most of the year, in a good start he would get three at bats in a game, would 4 really kill him?
-
Tomorrow's lineup.
Pierre CF (let him steal) Castillo 2B (he takes pitches for JP, let him steal as well) Redmond C (run the hit and run) Lowell 3B (enough said) Cabrera RF (benching him isn't the answer because... theres no one any better) Choi 1B (if the pitchers a lefty... who cares) Willis DH (Get him there! Bath Ruth 2! See if he can steal!) Gonzalez SS (he's great defensive player and his bat is heating up) Nunez LF (I think he's crap but Conine isn't exactly Barry Bonds right now, also he can steal bases) There we go, it's pretty bad but the best we've got!
-
Just once can we please...
Somehow the long ball worked earlier in the season but it ain't working now! Nobody hits homers consistently in this team. Play hit and run with a contact hitter at the plate, we have a couple JP, Luis, Mikey (sometimes), Redmond, they need to do something, not only are they not hitting, there doesnt seem to be any game plan either!
-
I cant stand this f***ing offense any more.
this is my first and I'd like to make it a relevant one! The Fact is if we had Pudge we would have the best record in the NL right now and would be walking away with this division but we haven't. Right Now we have a team that is slumping and needs a boost/injection to get it going again. Whether this new spark comes curtosy of a new coach or a ballplayer from the minors or majors I don't really care. As long as they act and act fast! Also I will have no one saying anything negative about JP. They man has a very limited talent but he works his ass off to make himself the best ball player he can be, which is (at his best) one of the best lead off hitters in the sport.
