1. hbahaha, i havent heard this guy (i never get to listen to boog's show) but man nice discription
2. At least its a 100% certainty the Rays are staying put. :whistle Different ways to look at the question. FO/field wise, Marlins by a country mile. Stability goes to the Rays. They got their own park with a nice long lease and the 6th largest media markest in the U.S. They are not going anywhere. 866949 shutup. your team sucks and you are searching for reasons why it shouldnt. media market means nothing if you cant get fans in the stands. and trust me, the marlins aren't going anywhere. this stadium deal will happen soon enough they just want to make sure it isnt as ugly as tropicana field.
3. The marlins hope to make the playoffs. The rays hope to have their games cancled by hurricanes. Case closed.
4. Burnett is not coming back. Florida is not going to offer him as much money as bigger pay roll teams can and will. And he will chase the dollar like 99% of pro athletes do. I dont know how this is such a hot topic since all of us tend to agree.
5. I didn't know about Furcal's amount of errors. 30 is a lot. But like i said, i love his range, his arm, and his ability to make contact w/ the ball and be a leadoff man (minus this year's low OBP). Please don't mention Nomar in this thread. He's not worth the absurd amount of money he asks for. And after he burned the bridges in boston he left a sour taste in my mouth. There are better SS's out there than Nomar; Izturis, Gonzo, Furcal, Eckstien (which says a lot because eckstien is not considered a "great" ss but plays like one).
6. Still! theres no comparison at all. Come on man. In what world is there ANY comparison besides playing in the same state?
7. I'm unsure of which one I'd pick because the D-Rays have a manager that wants to be fired, but the community loves him; the Marlins have a manager that doesn't seem to want to be fired, but a great number of the community wants him out. 866700 thats because majority of the community is EXTREAMLY fickle and fairweather. This is south florida we are talking about here. We change our views on our teams as often as the weather changes here. Do not relate the south florida community (most of which couldn't careless about sports. reason why the hurricanes dont sell out and they are the winningest team this area has EVER seen) to any other sports community. and if you are, don't compare it to the tampa baseball community!
8. Yeah, are you kidding me? this is actully a question? The Marlins outsell the D-Rays. The d-rays stadium sucks (i hate domed stadiums for anything besides basketball and hockey). And their fan base is horrible. Their ownership is NOT better than the Marlins in any strech of the imagination. We arent a million games out of first place and we go into each year expecting success after 2003. The rays go into every year expecting uter failure. On a final note the Marlins are in the NL which is a far superior league than the AL regardless of what the ASG says. Can someone kill this post for actully comparing the Marlins to one of the biggest JOKES in baseball?
9. Guess Ill add this here too. Figured I'd add my Marlins rendition of the Famous Dolphin Fight Song! Florida's got the Marlins! The Greatest Baseball Team! They hit the ball over the wall like no ones ever seen! They rule the mound! Steal all around! And rob 'em in the hole! Cause when you say the Marlins your talkin' Playoff souls! Cause their the Florida Marlins! Florida Marlins! Florida Marlins # 1! Cause their the Florida Marlins! Florida Marlins! Florida Marlins # 1! 866555 HAHAHA! Oh man, I was trying to make a Marlins version of that song the other day in the shower. That is amazing. You need to record that and release it on the internet somewhere so I can set it as a ringtone on my phone.
10. it's amazing some of the blind hatred for AJ whatever he says, some of you can spin it like no other 866663 I don't think its "blind hatred". Our attitudes are products of player's actions. So we are just assuming that AJ will ask for a nice chunk of change come fall. If we do have any hatred its not directed towards Burnett, but the emergence of greed in the past 20 years that is reaching epic proportions. And we don't think AJ, or any other player for that matter, is immune to it.
11. keep mikey. get rid of burnett (overpriced). tell McKeon to regain control of the clubhouse or hes gone.
12. Perfect Example: Edgar Renteria. 6 years as a St. Louis Cardinal. Went to numberous postseasons and a World Series with them. Was loved in the clubhouse and loved everyone in the clubhouse. Was on of Tony's favorite players. Left to boston for $1 million more a year. Thats all it took to break a 6 year relationship with one of the most winningest baseball teams in history, a manager that loved him, players that loved him, and possibly one of the best cities to play in (he would have never gotten boo'd in STL). That shows you something about loyalty vs. greed in sports today. I think its worse in baseball than it is in any other sport.
13. I think Alfonseca is the BEST news out of the 3. He can be a 7th and 8th inning man switching duties w/ Mota. That moves De Lo Santos down to the 5th and 6th innings along w/ Bump. So we have 6 finger for 7, mota for 8 and jones for 9. So all we need is our starters to go 6 and as long as their last name isnt Lieter it shouldn't be a problem. Valdez will help because it will give us some flexability in the rotation w/ Olsen. I have to admit Beckett doesn't really strike up a lot of enthusiasm from me. Don't get me wrong, I want him in the rotation. But I am a victim of the "What have you done for me lately?" desease. He started April and May hot. Ever since then its been injuries and inconsistency. I think i heard Tommy Hutton on TV last night say that Beckett and Burnett are identical in the fact that you never know what you are going to get from them day in and day out. Which is true. But lets be honest here, we kind of need to get these young guys out of the rotation and get some vets in there that know what it takes. But it's nice to see that we have them there if we need them and that our pitching future is bright.
14. yeah this is 2005, not 1905. Players have little loyality left in them. If he really wanted to stay put he would negotiate an extension right now (as someone already said).
15. It was nice to see the bullpen not give up any runs in 3 innings and our 3 + 4 guys go yard. It doesn't change my opinion of the team beacuse its only one game against the Diamondbacks. But its still nice to see a win w/ a 6 run performance from our offense when it wasn't trying to come from behind. Lets see if we can redo it again tonight.

yeah i think beinfest is pretty safe. he had everyone thinking this team was a world series contender this year which was the first time thats happened since 97. and he did it within the relm of the marlins financial status. the only thing you could possibly blame beinfest for is letting go of lee but that is all in hindsight. reports that beinfest is on the hotseat are just straight up wrong. And w/ that post. Im off to go home. I'll be sure to fill up this forum w/ more realism tomorrow morning . I know how much you all love it.
17. man sun of bitches left me on hold........ and im not talking 2 dan Leb-RETARD the whole show was useless he did nothing to impere my knowledge of baseball everything he said, we been talking about all day here...... what a waste my hour 865249 impere? what the HELL does impere mean? seriously who sold this kid a computer? obviously there needs to be a minimum IQ requirment in order to purchase a computer these days. I'm suprised you know how to turn the damn thing on. Left on hold huh? I'm sure you were the only one. I bet you felt clever after that "Dan Leb-RETARD" comment. Come back when you have SOMETHING to contribute.
18. Id rather sign Furcal than Gonzalez...Furcal is much better offensively, can steal bases, has a better arm, and is also great at defense. He would make a fine DP combo with Castillo. 865170 he's a f***ing drunk 865184 Good, then he can come over to my house and drink anytime he wants as long as he plays well on the field. Haven't you learned anything from sports? Athletes are immune to the laws and image constraints that you and I have to live with everyday.
19. how can we trade man who turned down more money to stay with our undreachiving asses?????? in 03 every team wantted the man and now in 05 no one wants him? wha eva he is hitting 306 this month...... keep em...... he hit 27 bombs last year and 32 da year be4 even Pat Burell sucked and now look at em 865142 Please unplug your computer and never plug it back in. Oh yeah... AND GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO TYPE AND SPEAK IN COMPLETE SENTENCES! Id rather sign Furcal than Gonzalez...Furcal is much better offensively, can steal bases, has a better arm, and is also great at defense. He would make a fine DP combo with Castillo. 865170 I love furcal. He is a defensive gem and his bat is more consistent (forget this year) than gonzolaz and could add speed to the bottom of the lineup. Furcal IS worth 6-7 mil a year. but that's what he'll get. Gonz is at least as productive of a hitter as Orlando Cabrera, with maybe a better arm. Orlando's getting $32 mill in a 4-year deal with the Angels, $6 mill this year. 865173 Well, thats a good point. Thats probably what he will get. But I dont think the Marlins will offer him that much. I think they know better. Especially if Furcal is on the market (i dont know when he becomes a free agent or what his current contract looks like. i just love furcal) or any other established well hitting SS in the league.
20. thats too much for him. he doesnt have a consistent bat. if he did have a good bat you would expect to see it this year being his FA year. but finishing the season @ around .260 and MAYBE 10 hrs shouldnt get you 6-7 mil a year
21. I don't know about the patience. He swings at A LOT of BAD pitches. 864846 yeah, he does. I dont think hes going to the cards though.
22. and my opnion on the suck theory is we had pitching in da 1st half and no offense...... and now we have the offense and no pitching...... 864861 Wow, I don't know what to answer to first. Your blatant disregard for the english language or the fact that you think we have an offense. If you are watching/listening to most of the games you will realize that most of our runs come late in the game and really dont mean much because by that time the game is already over. I think we put together a couple of runs in the 8th and 9th innings against phily but that as after we were down like 10. Yeah, the bullpen has emploded but by no means do we "have an offense". especially the way they should be playing.

HAHAHAHAHA. oh man i cant wait till im out of work so i can listen to this guy on the radio. he MAY be one of the best baseball guys on the radio in the country.
24. wow, so you basicly have manifested an entire trade w/ boston on your own. Man that sucks that the deal is "dead" (i dont put a lot of emphasis on whats made public regarding trades these days). But trust me, Burnett will not finish a Marlin this year :confused
25. Hah, how could Nick even want Leyland back (just read the headline not the whole article). Leyland was a notorious a$$hole to the media in '97.
