Thank God for this ASG Break
"They aren't going anywhere. And if come October and they are still playing I will stand out front of Joe Robbie and let all of you beat me w/ electric rods." -musk see ya in october by gate G. 850761 "can you hear the Fat Lady singing?" -holycrapilovethemarlins no but she is starting to clear her throat 850765 Your posts dont make sense. in the first you are basicly saying that you disagree with me and that the marlins WILL make it to october. but in the second you are saying that the end is near and that these marlins have a slim chance at october. so which is it?

Thank God for this ASG Break
nope, not overratted. Underachieving. You cant have the best leadoff man, one of the best contact hitters in castillo and lo duca, one of the best all around pitching staffs, a proven power hitter, a 3 time all-star, and a fantastic defense and be THIS BAD. no sir. ther is too much proven talent on this team to be this bad. plain and simple.

Cubs fans are the best
Funny part is that the real Cubs fans in Chicago are soooooooooooooo not like the ones that were at the game....... 850169 she is right, ive been to wrigley. They get along with the other teams fans, are very dedicated, and are mostly positive. 850173 WASH YOUR MOUTHS OUT WITH SOAP RIGHT THIS INSTANT! Cubs fans in chicago are 10X worse than what we saw in south florida. They are less classy and GOD FORBID that you are rooting for another team because they will be constantly throwing their Old Style all over you. Even visiting players hate cubs fans because they are just so horrible. When players, the same players who go to every ballpark and have seen all types of fans, complain about what a work of trash cubs fans are then HOW are they classy? oh, and btw, I've been to Wrigley Field and Busch during a cubs game and I live with cubs fans from chicago. Let me tell you....you couldnt be more wrong about cubs fans.

Thank God for this ASG Break
Yeah, Willis had a bad outting but zambrano by NO MEANS had his usual good outting. I think he ended up with somewhere around 5 walks? thats not zambrano like. Her was hittable that night but the marlins dont like to hit. Olsen had a great outting against wood who is not as "great" as people say he is. Yeah and Lieter sucks. BUT THIS IS THE CUBS AND BREWERS! and atlanta isnt fully healthy and they are only 2.5 games back. we're 7 w/ a clean bill of health. At least atlanta has an excuse for ONLY leading the WC race and not the divison wichi they'll have by the end of july.

Thank God for this ASG Break
Well believe it or not fans, the marlins went 2-5 in a Home stand against SUB .500 TEAMS. That means they had a losing record against teams who have had a losing record all season. And dont ANYONE tell me that the brewers and cubs are coming on strong. Because they are not. Put a fork in this team. They aren't going anywhere. And if come October and they are still playing I will stand out front of Joe Robbie and let all of you beat me w/ electric rods. Thats how sure I am that this team isn't going anywhere. All the trades in the world couldn't help this team. This is MUCH MORe different than '97 and '03. We weren't this bad at the all star break. You don't lose to the Cubs AND the Brewers in the same week and live to se October. Note to all Major League Teams: If you have a losing streak you just cant get out of come down to south florida and we'll fix it right up for you. Its a shame too. I am never this pesamistic. But this team spent the money, has the talent, and finally looked like a preseason contender that could contend year after year. You can't blame this on Lowell, Pierre, or Jack. You have to blame it on the team as a whole for not doing their individual jobs. Atlanta wins the division and the Nationals win the wild card. Im standing by that. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. But I can garuntee you with teams like the Astros heating up yet again and the Braves getting healthier that the Marlins will not even get a wiff of the playoffs this year. What a disapointment. (sorry, had to vent a little)

What Do We Need to Be Taken Seriously?
When I went to the Marlins/Cubs game on June 13th, my Mom told some guy that she raised me as a Cubs fan and she tried her best. The guy said, "Well I guess it is understandable to be a Marlins fan, they've won more championships." My blood BOILED. 845837 haha your mom tried to raise you as a cubs fan? i think you need to have her committed and change your last name so know one will ever know you were her child. why on earth would anyone outside the city of chicago raise the kid to be a cubs fan. seriously, what the HELL do you have to root for? Bleacher seats? Ivy? Rooftop seats? because certainly there is nothing related to baseball that you would be able to root for. The cubs baseball season usually ends in june (The June Swoon as they call it in Illinois). There is something i've learned of cubs fans through my years of living in Illinois - they are idiots. Seriously, 98% of the people who claim to be "cubs fans" couldnt tell you the starting rotation or name the outfield players. Not to mention they LOVE talking SH*T to people who arent cubs fans. If i had a dollar for everytime i heard "Cardinals SUCK" last season and this season i would be a very rich man. Yet the Cardinals are 13 games up on the cubs? I have a special place in my heart for cubs fans.

well considering we are still 3 weeks away the market hasn't full formed yet. who knows what huston will do w/ lidge and clemens. schdmit is much more established than burnett and is just having an off year (which that whole team is). i wouldnt give up the farm for burnett.

Weather Report
Hey, can you guys keep this topic up-to-date w/ the weather reports. I'm most likely going to trek to the stadium tonight but still would like to know what my chances are in seeing a full ball game tonight. weather.com says 80% chance of rain tonight.

OK, AJ is not a "premiere" pitcher in the majors. the guy is barely a .500 career pitcher. he throws hard but he still gives up more than his fair share of runs. but if we can get a good young pitcher to take his spot then go for it. I just wanted to clear up people's misconception that hes a "premire" pitcher

What Do We Need to Be Taken Seriously?
You can't go to a true baseball area (midwest or northeast) and proclaim you are a marlins fan. People like the Marlins because they are a feel good story. But people will never consider it a true franchise until they geta real baseball stadium. And when the Marlins are in the playoffs and the games are televised nationaly it just underlines the point that we need a new stadium. people all around the country watch the playoffs and see us playing in that hideous park that is barely good enough for football let alone baseball. also remember we have never had consistent success. the '98 firesale. the organization has changed hands 3 times. and 2003 was never supposed to happen. if we have 3 or 4 years in the thick of the playoff hunt then you'll see some more recognition around the country. as for lukewarm support in south florida. you have to understand, south florida is one of the WEAKEST sports areas in the united states. Even the team that owns south florida when it comes to sports, the dolphins, has no where near the following as the bears, raiders, giants, or jets have (just to name a few). we invented the term "bandwaggon" and "fairweather" here. so don't expect large suport from an area that lacks that characteristic.

Just got back from work...
as long as the marlins oragnization has your money im happy. because hwen it boils down to it, thats all that matters in my book.

33,897 today at the game
thats halarious. we can barely get 28k for a weekNIGHT game or a weekend game and we get 33k for a weekday game. what irony.

33,897 today at the game
HOLY CRAP! when i read the title of this post i thought it was a joke. during the game i checked the stadium web cam to check on the rain delay (i had to follow the game via cbs sportsline from work) and the lower deck was EMPTY so i thought AT BEST 10,000 people. thats incredible. especially since tickets were 1/2 price. man that is great. i dont care if its 30,000 blind people. as long as they can cheer for the right team i want them in my ballpark!

METS WIN! METS WIN!
wow, the mets win and the marlins took 2 of 3 form the mets over the weekend. so we should be better than the nats? i like that logic

Miguel Cabrera
Well as I was following the game on CBS Sportsline I looked up cab's stats. I was alarmed. He is up to 60+ Strikeouts! That is an incredibly high number for someone who is supposed to be a pure hitter. You will see me refer to Albert Pujols a lot and this is no different. Now I am not comparing Cab to Pujols (that would be unfair to any player) I am just going to use him as a model of what Cab should strive for. Every yeah Pujols works hard to get his strikeout numbers down. Last year I believe he ENDED the year where he played almost 150 games at aprox 60 strikeouts. You're usual power hitter stats will read mid to high .200's 30+ hrs 110+ rbis and 150+ strikeouts. Cab has been touted as a pure hitter. Someone who can hit for average and power and is a hard strikeout which is what you want in your 3 or 4 spot. I think he needs to begin focusing on his strikeout numbers and bringing them down in the next 2 seasons. IMPORTANT: I'm not bashing cabera. hes a great hitter. I am just giving my opinion on what he needs to do to be mentioned in the same breath as pujols (which he is starting to be).

Stadium
yeah look at the topic titled "location bad idea" in this forum. it talks about the dowtown attraction. Have you seen the area around dolphins stadium? Carol City is an armpit. putting stadiums there w/ weak fanbases is asking for disaster. Look, its great that your uncle has the plans for the stadium but I'm pretty sure that your uncle wont be working for free which is what he would have to be doing if he were to build the stadium at this time. Lets be honest here folks, the stadium, for right now, is not happening. This is not to say that in the near future it will happen. no funding = no construction crew no construction crew = no stadium. dont flood the forum w/ pointless posts about how the stadium is going to happen just because your uncle has the plans. I'm sure there are multiple construction firms out there that have the plans for the stadium since they would all have had to bid on building the stadium and plans would have had to been drawn up just so they had something to show legislators.

Today's Lineup...
damion is always able to havea 3-4 game and is a decent HR threat if you give him something to pull out to left. Treanor's bat is ehhh. And conine is pretty consistent. If mohler can keep the ball down and our deffense can come up like it has been I think we have a reasonable chance in winning tonight. Remember people, these are the sub .500 brewers we are talking about.

Cubs Game Friday July 8th
I've got some nice sign ideas. Especially since I know the usual chant of cubs fans in chicago and what Cardinals fans chant back to them. I just wish Sammy was still on the team so i could do a corked bat deal. Note: I was up at school last summer so I wasn't here to enjoy the post NLCS Cubs bashing. Also, if you EVER have a chance to go to a Cubs v Cardinals game go to one.

Cubs Game Friday July 8th
Alright boys, I have a mission for you. Going to school in central Illinois has taught me a few things about baseball. Now I will refrain from the usual "South Florida wouldn't know baseball if it bit them on the ass" comments here. However, I will tell you this....one thing Cubs fans hate is being reminded about their ability to consistently fail. Now, I am very upset at myself that I have not collected any Cubs apperal in my time in Illinois especially after my many visits to Wirgley (mostly because I have been bread to be a Cardinals fan). Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to dress up as the one and only Steve Bartman. The more Bartman we can get out to the games this weekend the better. If you need incentive (besides pissing off a bunch of cubs fans) is that you'll most likely get on TV/JumboTron. If you need a picture of what Steve looks like here it is: We need to rally the troops here. Its always fun to hassel a team whos 100 year old dreams you've ruined. Who's with me? PS: I'll be at the game friday night behind the home dugout.

Well it seems that I'm FINALLY going to a game...
the only reason i dont like seeing mohler pitch live is because its generally a slow game. high counts, hits and limited strikeouts. its just how he pitches. but you will see a few double plays. that i can garuntee you from a mohler game. also, if you want to see homeruns you've come to see the wrong team. our 3-4-5 batters are looking at 32-30-20 hr seasons. barely average for the heart of the order.

Guillermo Mota
Yep. Totally agree. Mota is finally out of the doghouse and solidified this bullpen. He can go 1+ innings and easily set it up for Jones. I would like to see Mota just stay in the SU role for the season unless Jones falls off the horse (which it doesn't look like he will). De Lo Santos looks like a solid MRP. We shouldn't complain about the bullpen anymore if they keep this up. (note: im not just saying this because of the spectacular game they just had. they've been solid for a couple of weeks now) Now if our bats could come alive at the same time we'd be set and this team would finally live up to its potential.

Andre Dawson on OTL NOW!!!
unless cabrera's homerun numbers go way up from his average of around 35 (he'll need AT LEAST 46). and if he can get people to get on base infront of him then it should be easy. but it will be tough because the first is extreamly hard to do and the second is out of your control. Albert Pujols is the greatest pure hitter in the sport (power and average) and he hasn't come close to the triple crown. I'd say if anyone was going to win it in the next 5 years it would be albert. He averages 40+ hrs and 120+ rbi's a season + .300+ batting every season. Cabrera just isnt at that level yet. Hopefully he will be soon.

do u guys think is time for someone to rest?
alright, I know its the natrue of this board to question every managerial move in existance. but lets be real guys. McKeon knows his players better than we do. Delgado is a long vet and knows when he needs a day off or not. same w/ LoDuca. I agree that LoDuca has been getting a lot of consecutive starts lately but i think thats because we just needh is bat in the lineup. as for easley, TOTALLY agree. This guy has power, contact, and speed. Obviously his defense isnt Mike Lowell-esque but it will get him by. he has the best bat on our bench by far. I would just like to see if we had him starting a couple games. when he did back in May only good offensive things happened. I think Mike can let his ego go a little and let Damion have a shot.
