1. Holy crap. When do we give this guy the CLUTCH tag?
2. Huizenga DEFINITELY. If you are any type of South Florida sports fan you live to hate this guy. He has done nothing good for any franchise hes owned. The one that still burns me is selling the naming rights for Joe Robbie Stadium to Pro Player?! Give me a break you money hungry pig!
3. tickets are dirt cheap. If I weren't a working man I would be all over that game like white on rice. Who's going?

I guess you missed the "deer in the headlights" look after McCann went yard to centerfield. The kid will be fine but let's call a spade a spade. 834910 good point. but remember this kid has been in the majors for what, a week? i'm sure every major league pitcher has the same look/reaction when they give up their first major league home run.

except for the one run he gave up another solid outting by Scott Olsen. I hope this kid gets a chance to start another game against a more worthy opponent. Just think, Olsen has one or 2 more solid outings we may be more likely to trade burnett. Side note about Burnett: He is a thrower, not a pitcher. He feels he can dominate whith his rediculous velocity. He still has to learn that control, and pitch selection is more important than throwing a 102mph fastball. This is why his era is hovering around 4 and hes a .500 pitcher. He's got the best "stuff" on the team but he just cant control it.

Wow, you guys are pretty rediculous. thank god that espn article was posted. people would have spent all day talking about how loria was discussing possible trades ON THE FIELD! Come on lets be rational here. Don't you think that if trade rumors were to be discussed it would be done in the clubhouse and not in the middle of a rain delay. Also, players are rarely told where they might be going until it is official. Thank you "gainesvillemarlin"
7. One GLARING coaching mistake was made in the 11th (not sure on the inning). Lo Duca was on 3rd and the infield was drawn in. A grounder was hit to second and instead of Lo Duca staying on 3rd he tries to run home. EASY out at the plate and now the Marlins have a runner on first and no one in scoring position. Why not lleave Lo Duca at 3rd because you KNOW there is not a chance in hell he is going to score on that gronder to 2nd. Give up the out at first. You stil have a runner in scoring position. I don't know who gave him the green light and I highly doubt Paul would run on his own because he is a smart ball player. Note: I have a horrible memory for details so I am not sure what the inning was, who was at bat (i think it was Enc and Lo Duca hit a double) and I'm not sure on the out situation (I think Lo Duca hit a lead off double and moved up to third on a balk). But I do remember how pissed I was after that play.

I a huge fan of Mikey's. Down to earth good team player. However, I don't think he should be batting in the 5th spot. Before the season started and the Marlins signed Delgado i was convinced we had one of the best 3-4-5 spots in the league with 3 potential 30+ hr hitters in those spots. Mike will come out of this slump (hopefully :confused ) but its time to put in a producer in the 5th spot FOR NOW. I like Pauly there. Great contact hitter. Don't put Enc there because hes too inconsistent. But I'd really like to see a guy in there that has some pop to his bat. Someone who can at least hit 20hrs a season and hit abover .270. Pitchers are getting away w/ pitchin around Delgado because A) they know he'll swing at bad pitches and B) if they lose him they have Lowell up next which isnt a big threat. If you put someone behind Delgado that can hit you will see Delgado get better pitches and be more successful (not that I'm saying he hasn't been successful). Thats why Cabrerra is having such an incredible year because he has Delgado behind him. Final point: Move Lowell out of 5th, maybe take Mike B.'s advice in his column and bring up some young talent just to give them a chance. At first McKeon left Lowell in the 5th spot to help his confidence but that hasnt really helped. I'm thinking Lowell could be another Garry Sheffield of '97 all over again except Lowell is a fan favorite and won't get the amount of boo's.
9. i was at the game so i never saw this on tv (nor would i have been able too if i were watching it on tv because i would have been to busy running throughout the house). as a cuban i can almost garuntee you that guy is not of american decent. only a cuban would give that sign to an entire baseball team at the end of a 13 inning game.
10. Jack has been outmanaged by alot of managers this year. Look at what Willie Randolph has done when the fish have faced the Mets. For almost the entire season, every other team is coming in aggressive and Jack is just sitting with his legs closed and that perplexed look on his face, while he forces all of us to just wait around for a 3-run homer. The 3-run homer usually comes in the third game of a series when we have already lost the first 2 because we can't score. Hey Admin, don't give up on the season; make the change now!!! 829347 out of all the jack gets outmanaged posts this is the only one i agree with. Jack has never really been that aggressive of a manager and that is one thing i don't like. maybe he's better suited in the AL rather than the NL where you can just sleep for 6 innings and then just manage the bullpen. I don't think he got "outmanaged" tonight as drastic as you guys think. how was he supposed to know messenger would have such a bad outing. he should have brought de los santos in earlier. the only gripe i have about jack is that he doesn't push for runs. not enough sac bunts on nights that were in a tight ball game. not enough hit and runs (which many managers are strictly against). it seems like we're trying to ride on the coattails of cabrerra and delgado. Why don't we talk about delgado leaving the bags juiced in the 4th inning w/ 2 outs? that isnt the first time hes done that. :mad
11. musk replied to musk's topic in Miami Marlins
de los santos was busy giving up a grand slam 829372 de los santos didnt give up a grand slam. he gave up a home run. and if it werent for messenger's awful outting thats all it would have been. i just read the box score so i cant say how well he pitched. but jack has given mota a shorter leash than this and mota is a proven veteran not some AAA rookie. I am ALL for giving rookies a shot, but there is a place and a time and certain leway you give them. then again, hindsight is 20/20 =/ :confused
12. The guy that used to be on 940 during the after work spot. I forget his name but he was a local guy and im kind of pissed he didnt get a spot on 790 or 560 at a popular time slot. I thought he was the best sports talk radio host id ever heard. 828311 Jorge Sedano is on nationwide via Fox Sports Radio. He does overnights and can be heard on 790 The Ticket. He dumped the local show for Heat Radio hosting. 828517 thanks a ton cape. to bad i'll never be up to hear it. i miss him

who the hell is this guy and why did McKeon give him such a long leash in such a close game? i mean jesus. where was mecire or de los santos or reidling or even mota?! why the HELL did he use a young guy in such a tight ball game? we were down 2 runs Jack. Thats it. w/ 6 outs left. How are you going to put a young guy in such a tight situation and give him such a long leash?
14. ok well i think the best time for baseball talk is the 4-7 spot. and unfortunatly 790 has dan LeRetard on who likes to crack jokes rather than talk real sports. Then 560 has Mandich (i think. i cant tell those old guys voices apart) whos delivery is dry and extreamly boring. but, i think theres just a little more insight. a lot has to deal w/ who has callers that bring something to the table and arent just dumbasses that just repeat what everyone else is saying. i say 560 by a hair. BUT you know who i DO MISS?! The guy that used to be on 940 during the after work spot. I forget his name but he was a local guy and im kind of pissed he didnt get a spot on 790 or 560 at a popular time slot. I thought he was the best sports talk radio host id ever heard.
15. A win is a win is a win. we won because we played well. If the fish can keep up the pitching, and show the bats weve seen in 3 of the last 4 games,we should be fine, Moehler nees run support.. 827862 that is exactly what i didnt want to hear. "mohler needs run support" duh. that is the main topic everytime he pitches. i dont know how many times they throw up his stat. "we need the bats we've seen in the past 3 of 4 games". well the win over atlanta was put completely on cabrerra. whenever anyone has 6 rbi's and 2 home runs you better win that game. and then after that we played against the devil rays which is the sorriest team in baseball. And for your information our pitching has kept up and that hasnt won us games. No offense, and I dont mean to come off as an ass, but you need to give me better insight than that.
16. Can't paint the whole 7 day picture but I believe it may well turn on JP and Luis. If they get on base, we're in the game. 827858 Amen buddy. This has been talked about a little more recently. This team rides on Louie and JP. If they are consistently getting on base we have a good chance to win any game. I think this week, as will the entire season, will rest on those 2.
17. well it seems like the sales tax is out of the question. i dont think the marlins would want to use the sale of luxury boxes to finance the stadium (this is one major draw back of joe robbie stadium). I'm not really familar with the empowerment zone you are talking about. I think eventually the Marlins are going to have to foot most of the bill if they really want this thing to work and thats how i would like to see the stadium being paid for. Tax payers should not have to pay for a stadium that not all of them will use. Also, as we've seen, the political backlash would be incredible especially with the county's historical mis-use of tax revenue. Maybe the city could donate the land (as they are doing with the Orange Bowl) knowing that doing this would lead to greater revenue from the area once it is re-zoned for commercial use and they would recieve revenue from that. The city has a hard time thinking long-term. Replacing the slum area with a baseball stadium and shops and resturants would only draw more people to the city. Right now no one will build a condo near Overtown. How would you sell that? "Come visit our condos. Each condo purchase gets you one free crack rock from your local Overtown neighbors"
18. Well obviously these next 4 games against the Braves are huge. Andruw Jones is steller with the young plug-in players filling their rolls until the starters come back. Atlanta will be getting Hudson and Chipper back soon which only spells trouble for other teams. I hate to beat a dead horse here but our pitching has been there all season long. Our run support comes in spurts. Yeah, we've just won 4 in a row but 3 of those came from Tampa Bay, easily the sorriest team in baseball. And we needed a bases loaded walk and AJ to go the distance in order to win yesterday. Good teams don't win like that. The Braves scord an average of 6.6 runs a game to sweep the Baltimore who were leading their divison as of Saturday. The Braves have won 5 of 6 w/ a battered lineup and pitching rotation (mind you 2 of those wins came against us and the game we did win we won because one player had 6 rbi's.) The Mets on the other hand are playing .500 baseball and just won 2 of 3 from the struggling Yankees (their bullpen giving up the sweep last night). They are just hanging in there, but unlike the Braves who are also "just hanging in there", they are doing it with their full lineup (minus Marlon Anderson who's their 3rd option at 2B). And Shea Stadium will not be an easy place to play especially if we have to go against Pedro or Glavine who is pitching vintage like. So, my question to you is this: Put down your Marlins hats and Marlins jerseys and tell me what you REALLY think of the next 7 days. Lets stay away from "well we need to start scoring runs (which has been beaten to the grown the past 2 weeks)" or "if our pitching holds up (which it has) we'll win (which we wont)". What pitchers and players do YOU think we should look out for (minus Andruw Jones who everyone knows is hotter than a summer day in Mexico City). I want your insightful comments Marlins fans. I rather see someone tell me we're going to go 3-4 with good reasoning than someone say we're going to go 5-2 because "our pitching will win us games". which we all know is not true.
19. Marlins in the top 5: C- LoDucca (in 2nd down by 86k votes) OF - Cabrerra (4th down by 300,000 votes) the leading vote getters are from large market teams such as: Dodgers, Cardinals and Mets. I don't agree with Piazza leading the catcher's spot. And i could see Eckstein win the SS spot.
20. the first month or so i was kind of skeptical of delgado. in the back of my mind i was remembering that he was switching leagues and ballparks. but now the only gripe i have of him is that he can strike out too much. He's on pace for more than 124 strikeouts this season. But I guess if you finish the season hitting above .300 w/ 30+ hr's and 120 rbis it doesnt matter how much you strike out.
21. LoDuca will be getting a break sometime soon. most likely today or tomorrow. I WANT conine in RF. We need to start a "Leave Jeff in right" petition.
22. yep, tons of respect. extremely humble. good work ethic. hes the type of guy that would sign w/ florida for less money just because he started here. The Cards are my second favorite team and the only other team I follow other than the fish (I go to school in central illinois where its split cubs/cards/sox) and I am a huge tony LaRussa fan and Chris Carpenter (playoffs would have been different w/ him in it). The Cards will have the starting 3rd, first, and possibly SS and 2b in the all-star game. They could potentially own the entire infield. having 1/2 his team starting TLR would most likely start Willis. Also, TLR has HUGE respect for Willis which says a lot because tony doesnt give out that respect easily.
23. tell me the prices and i'll let you know. if we are going to talk about financing they we might as well stop dreaming of a stadium because land prices are only going to go up along w/ construction prices. The point i brought up was location. A discussion on financing would require a complete statement on financing the stadium. get me one of those and i'll tell you.
24. you HAD respect? I lost respect ever since a) the team that wins gets homefield advantage b) i heard nomar was leading the race even though he only played 2 weeks c) the yankees owned 1/2 of the al team. the all-star game is a FARSE and announcers, broadcasters, sports analysts, and commentators everywhere need to stop using the all-star game as an impressive stat. a 2 time all-star has almost completely lost all meaning. its sad but true.
25. Overtown is horrendous Musk. Have you ever even ventured there? Thats an area that development can't save. Overtown is really scary. 824298 yes i've "ventured" there. my dad has been a cop there for 20 years. I just finished having lunch there. development can and will save overtown. For the simple reason that development will kick the scum out of overtown. Development kicks all types of scum out of scummy areas. Example: South Beach kicked out all the cuban criminals that came over on the mario from the beach in the late 80's. Also, yes Little Havana is a safer neighborhood, but that is relative. It is not a place where you would want to walk down the street at 11pm and get lost either. Saftey is all relative. The reason i like overtown so much is because it is apart of the city of miami and you have 836, 395, and I-95 that intersect right at there so you address traffic from the north/south/east/and west. The metro is right there. The land is very cheap and the city NEEDS to clean up that area (and is extremely willing to). If the city does it right, which I believe it will with their new found mistress - condo developers, you could see a cleaner, safer overtown. but this would have to happen all at once. The land for the stadium, parking, and commercial development surrounding the stadium need to be collected at the same time. If it is done piece by piece (IE: stadium gets built then years later the commercial district will come) then you will never see any commercial development (see: Miami Arena).
