Marty Booker hurt
Booker hurts ankle in practice By Harvey Fialkov Sun-Sentinel.com Posted June 10 2006, 5:46 PM EDT DAVIE -- Dolphins coach Nick Saban is constantly reminding his players during minimal contact practices to "stay off the ground.'' One play after quarterback Daunte Culpepper elicited gasps from a few hundred spectators by diving on top of a fumble during a two-minute drill in the Saturday morning session of this weekend's mini-camp, he hit a diving Marty Booker over the middle for what could be a costly completion. Booker, who beat safety Travares Tillman on the play, remained on the ground in obvious pain. He was carted off the field with what Saban depicted as a sprained (left) ankle. Booker left the facility for further evaluation. Slot receiver Wes Welker took his spot on the first team opposite Chris Chambers. Booker, 29, is coming off a solid season in which he gained a career-high 17.6 yards per catch. "Marty is not really bad hurt,'' Saban said. "How many times a day do I say stay off the ground? We don't want receivers diving for the ball. We don't want defensive backs going over the top and knocking them down to try and get a ball. Obviously, that's not ever going to be 100 percent. We want players in competitive situations to especially play smart.'' http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-061...la-sports-front

Yankees eyeing Griffey, Dunn
The Yankees don't have any prospects anywhere close to worthy of Adam Dunn. As for Griffey, I'm sure another highly overpayed post prime superstar will fit in just fine. Griffey is what the Yankees want he is old, overpayed, injury prone and is past his prime.

Marlins paid like a Yankee
I know its kinda cool that the Sox are comin down soon but wouldnt it be sweet if the Spankees were comin to town instead? We would pound that girls squad they have posing as a starting rotation. We throw The Train, JJ and Nolasco against them and we take 2 of 3. :punching I hope we embarrass them and beat them mercifully.

Strong stadium letter in Herald
Miami Herald Make a stadium deal happen -- now Culture and sports make our lives much more rewarding and give us an escapism from our daily lives. The new Performing Arts Center will finally place Miami as a truly ''global city'' in terms of music and theater. Why can't we do the same for sports? Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and now the Twin Cities have all the seen the importance of sports in our daily lives. All these cities have made it happen. All have done it in unique ways. An area like Miami, with all the millions of dollars that come in from tourism alone, and nothing has been accomplished? The Marlins are contributing more money than all, if not most of the teams. What's it going to take to have you local politicians put your heads together for the benefit of all Miami and South Florida like they have in Minnesota? As a native Miamian, I am embarrassed this issue has not been resolved. The Marlins' management and especially [owner] Jeffrey Loria and [president] David Samson have bent over backward to get a deal done here locally. I don't blame them at all for looking at other areas or even dismantling the team, something that's very painful with each and every loss. The Marlins have given us two World Championships in recent history, something our beloved Dolphins haven't seen since 1972. Each championship has a special place in my heart. Please don't let our Marlins leave. GET THE DEAL DONE ALREADY! RICHARD L. GONZALEZ Miami :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy Took the words right out of my mouth.

I love baseball
Baseball is so fun to watch just as sports because anything can happen.

Good D-Train article
You can not replace the D-Trains character and winning attitude in the clubhouse. His winning attitude and energy is contagious in the club house. The D-Train can not be replaced.

I like to go to benmaller.com for all trade rumors.

Turn around
What do you think contributed to the turn around in the Marlins season, we are currently 7-3 in our last ten games? Do you guys think this can hold up for the remainder of the season? Hopefully we got all our losing out of the way in the begining of the season?

I was wrong about Kensing!
Every time I saw him pitch this year it looked like he had what it took, he just was making some mistakes. I think he can be a force in the 'pen, but I wanna see more from him in the 9th before we declare him a closer. He is a great set up man for the future closer Carlos Martinez. This is slowly becoming a solid bullpen and a solid team overall.

Looks like Martinez AND Tank are activated...
yeah, i cant even remember the last time Herges pitched... but he's still a waste of a roster spot He pitched Wednesday...I was there and it was unforunate. well then! :lol .... :confused if he aint gonna get cut, the least Girardi could do is never use him.... ever. Seriously why is Herges on the roster? He has to be bribing someone, to still be on the team.

Andino recalled
Any situation where Reed is sent down and Andino is sent up instead it is an upgrade.

Samson on 790 The Ticket
Dan: Will Dtrain be on the team at the end of the year? Samson: ::loooong pause:: ummmm.... i mean.... ummmmm (earlier) Samson: Dan, whatcha doin this weekend? Dan: Probably going to Detroit Samson: Oh yeah? Dan: yeah Samson: really? Dan: yep Samson: Wanna know what Im doing on Sunday? Dan: No, next caller. His answer towards a possible trade practically assured me that he will trade him. I mean if the guy cant even give somebody a straight answer. He was hiding his intentions in his answer.

All Time Worst Standing
it aint that bad, and we still got alot of time to bounce back. be positive about all this! lol There is still, oh I dont know around 100 something games left to be played. The Marlins will eventually have a run.

Herges strikes again
To be honest, I am not worried. Why? Becuase its obvious that desptie Herges being overrused right now, he has played himself out of any chance he had to be with this team for a long period of time. He will be gone eventually. True, but for how long can you be patient? He is costing us games. I know we are rebuilding but any win helps the team morale. Instead Girardi is setting an example that losing is acceptable. I am worried because he is not just hurting himself, but, his team as well. He is poisin to the team everytime he gets on the mound.

Herges strikes again
Great the two veterans that we got, and they cant even pitch( Brian Moehler, and Matt Herges)!! Cut them loose

San Antonio Deadline Countdown
San Antonio is only merely the back up plan right now. San Antonio is like one of those rejects who nobody wants to really tell them that there is NO CHANCE IN HELL, that they will get the Marlins.
-
Can the Marlins Break the Record this season?
The Marlins will not break the Mets record this season because we will play much efficiently and smarter in the second half of the season.
-
Brockton Rox challenge Florida Marlins
Jim Lucas is a douche. What an idiot.
-
San Antonio Deadline Countdown
Well it has to be made (according to the Judge) by 12am Tuesday Morning......so they have just over 24 hours. Okay so it can be any time tomorrow. Wait, I thought this thing was like scheduled at a certain time.

BBTN's love for the Marlins.
Yeah, I just saw that. That pissed me off. Why dont they talk about how good our offense has been so far or the great talent that we posses? Instead they make dumb remarks which make them look even more ignorant and their rants make them seem even more unproffessionnal.

Where would your QB rank?
Is there any question? Culpepper is the #1 because he is now a Miami Dolphin and will win many Superbowls with us. :thumbup

A look ahead..(5-15-2006--5-18-2006)
I thought Dontrelle was getting a re-match with Hudson. What's with the TBA?? On CBS sportsline it will be Dontrelle against Tim Hudson.

I would trade the D-Train...
Keep Willis no matter what. He is losing right now but dont expect him continue his losing bid. He will win, and when he does people will change their minds on even thinking of trading him. He is an energetic, animated, talented, young pitcher that will be the face of the franchise with Miguel Cabrera for a long, long time.

vargas and moehler
GET RID OF MOEHLER!!!! As for Vargas, he can put things together but he needs to be consistent. I mean I have seen some incredible performances and some not so good performances by this guy. He just needs consistency.
