The Hechavarria experiment has to stop...
Hech is the best defensive SS we have. I hope Lucas can hit his way into the starting role until we get a legit replacement.

5/20 Post Game
To say red is the only one to blame for the decision to walk Gwyn is silly; it's also the players fault for executing, and the other coaches in the dugout's fault for letting it happen. Just dumb all around. Was red ever asked to comment on his decision in the post game interview? I'm curious to hear his explanation.

5/18 Marlins @ Giants - 3:30 PM
Hand had success with his curve ball, don't know why they let him throw so many fastballs for balls.

The Marlins are Signing Miguel Tejada.
If they end up benching hech for an extended period of time (however unlikely that is), I'd like to see Lucas out there.

6/18 Postgame thread we lost
Polanco really shouldn't be batting in the top half of the order. I mean, what is it about a 229/288/261 line that suggests he should be getting the second most opportunities to bat in a game?

Yelich heading to minor league disabled list
Has there been any update on Yelich? Last I saw, he was put on the 7-day DL retroactive 6/4.

Kouzmanoff and Smith signed
I thought one of the problems with OPS was that it values SLG too highly. And that there was a variation of OPS that de-valued SLG in it's caluclation. Anyone know what that is? OPSMHOS of course! I don't get it.

9/8 Miami Marlins @ Washington Nationals
I was just watching highlights on Gameday, and after Stanton's hr, at the end of the clip, it looked like the ump was saying something to the Nats dugout. Anyone know what happened there? Gio Gonzales got ejected for yelling at the ump about the strike zone. Thanks

Emilio Bonifacio's position
2B...don't really like him in CF, his defense isn't very good out there...I like him in the everyday lineup though... Haha, I was about to say the same thing flip-flopped - preferring him in CF and that his defense at 2B wasn't very good. But, I voted 2B just because I'm hopeful the F.O. actually gets a legit CF before next year, meaning Boni would most likely play 2nd.

Carlos Lee
Lee > Morrison. But I say build for 2014, put Lomo at first, and use money for Lee elsewhere.

Carlos Lee Has Spoken To Marlins About 2013 Return
For all of the "better production" Carlos Lee has given the Marlins, his OPS is all of .032 points higher than Lomo's this season with the Marlins. If it's a question of $4-5M for Lee or the minimum for Lomo, there's no question you take the upside play of Lomo, especially since you still have to hope he develops into a long-term piece for you. 2012 OPS w/ RISP Lee .841 Morrison .593 Even if you believe that Lee has some magical ability to improve his game with RISP (A hypothesis for which there is little proof, in Lee's career), you are still left with the fact that he has a .640 with the bases empty, a situation in which he comes up far more often. I'm not going to keep a guy because he's passes in every fifth at bat, especially when he is old, has no upside and will likely cost a few million. I don't believe Carlos possesses a magical ability, I simply think he "stays within himself" a lot better than Lomo does when a scoring opportunity presents itself, as the numbers clearly indicate. And you're right, scoring opportunities don't come along very often, but when they do, I want someone that can hit with RISP at the plate. We didn't get Carlos Lee so he could get on base for Donovan Solano to drive him in.

That's the "better production" people are liking from a bat in the middle of the lineup. I know, RBI's mean nothing. They're stupid. Btw, I'm not saying we should sign him. We already have enough positions to fill next year, coupled with reports of our payroll being lowered next year, the last thing we should do is spend money on a position we already have a player for (albeit a player who hasn't been able to hit with RISP for the past two years).

6/6 Post Game
i don't understand why fredi took ricky out when he did... i trust ricky a whole hell of a lot more to get out of that jam in the 5th than wood... not too mention the fact that ricky was cruising up to that point and we had 2 more innings to go until we could give the ball to a reliever we can trust. But instead fredi decided to hand this game over to our team's biggest weakness - the middle-relief corps. I wish Badenhop would get back to throwing the way he was for the past couple years in the Long / Middle-Relief role. Call him back up and put him back in that role.... please don't try using him as the "7th, or 8th inning guy" again. kthx
