7/25 Post Game
Why would keeping Dempster have been so bad? Where would you have put him in 2003? Plus I think he was a pending Free Agent. Penny, Beckett, Burnett, Willis, Pavano, Redman. He would have been a more expensive Redman. Not to mention his ERA from 2001-2003 was a solid 6.00 +/-

2014 Marlins Trade Deadline
Yeah, I sent it on to Admin B, no, wait, he's not here anymore, right? I forgot. I sent it to Dave. Dave says the embezzlement conviction wasn't a deal-breaker, but the stautory rape thing might be a slight problem. Other than that, looks great!

"Well, I know Giancarlo is off the table, so I'll go down the list. We'd like Adeiny Hechavarria. We're willing to give up Sonny Gray, Sean Doolittle, and Josh Donaldson for him. What do you say?" "HELL NO!" *click* Hold out for Jim Johnson

DD will be in the HR Derby in a year or two once he goes to Oakland The only times I want to see the words "DD" and "Oakland" in the same sentence is when we are talking about some titties-

Astros fail to sign Aiken
If that is the case, then that's terrible on the Astros part. Be very interesting to see what happens - what would you do in Aiken's position? Attempt to become a free agent, play in a JuCo, go to University, play in Japan? The possibilities are endless! I probably would have checked in on going to Japan on a one year deal. They probably would over pay by a boat load to get an American player with his potential for the one year. Realistically, he stood up for himself. I can't fault him for that. He may have endangered his financial future but he'll always get another chance. Some team will draft him next year.

Braves Looking to RELEASE Uggla, come on dooooooown.
Exactly. Traded and immediately slotted in MLB lineup. He was a prospect for a month..... Or the whole offseason.

Braves Looking to RELEASE Uggla, come on dooooooown.
What about this future Hall of Famer and perennial All Star? I really wonder what it's like to have an elite infield prospect. Anyone remember how that feels? I remember- it felt like he was a prick who couldn't be bothered to dive for ground balls in the hole.

- Astros fail to sign Aiken
You may be right, but at the same time ... it's a business, and each player can be considered a product. They saw a defect in this product they're attempting to "buy" if you will, so would you want to pay top dollar for that defective product? (Assuming the physical results on him were true) From what's been reported- the defect isn't true and was a ploy to bring the signing bonus down to sign both Nix And Marshall with the saved cap room. Even the 5m offer was to sign nix as well. Nix agreed with the Astros at 1.5m and was in town to sign the deal when try pulled back. The 1.5 plus the 5m to Aiken was exactly the slot for the 1 overall pick and what they agreed on.- Reality
- Astros fail to sign Aiken
If I remember right, when Harper signed, it was about 30 seconds before the deadline. But the nationals wanted to make he deal and keep him. I'd argue the Astros didn't want Aiken unless it was for bottom dollar. - Astros fail to sign Aiken
