  1. braves are also into uggla as well. we would move him to left field if we got him.Don’t dismiss that Uggla-to-left-field rumor. It’s a legit possibility. And I’m not sure who the Marlins would want back, but could include Kelly Johnson. I say that because Fredi always liked the guy. Kelly also has a .319 average and .975 OPS in 30 games at the stadium formerly known as Joe Robbie (and Pro Player … and Dolphin … ) http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-braves-blog/2009/11/10/braves-explore-options-during-gm-meetings/comment-page-13/#comment-346776
  2. what's the ball/strike ratio for anibal? 8 walks is just silly. 45 balls, 34 strikes. that's embarrassing. he's lucky to only be down 3-0. It's not that he's lucky, it's that the hitters on your team can't hit him for sh*t. that too.

  5. that went out in a hurry. 3-0 braves. somewhat embarrassed by the low crowd, despite being in the playoff race.
  6. it's anibal sanchez vs. jair jurrijens (aka jj). braves elimination number is 5, marlins elimination number is 2.
  7. We're 4 games out with 7 to play. We're still in this. The Braves have been absolutely on fire recently, and they close out the season with 3 against the Nats. We have to win out I believe. 90-72 is what we have to get out and just hope everything else falls in place. WIN WIN WIN GO MARLINS !!! actually, it's 4 against the nats. this next series between the braves and marlins will knock one of us at least out of the playoff picture, huge for both teams. we have jj, hudson and javy going in the series, so it favors the braves on paper, but you guys always play us hard. but of course, we have to hope the rockies slip up against the brewers and dodgers.
  8. here's the updated wild card elimination numbers (in bold) as of today and remaining opponents. i'm not putting on records on this, since at this point, only elimination numbers really matter. Colorado Rockies (3 vs. Cardinals, 3 vs. Brewers, 3 @ Dodgers) Atlanta Braves (7; 3 @ Nationals, 3 vs. Marlins, 4 vs. Nationals) San Francisco Giants (6; 3 vs. Cubs, 3 vs. D'backs, 3 @ Padres) Florida Marlins (6; 3 vs. Mets, 3 @ Braves, 3 @ Phillies) Chicago Cubs (4; 3 @ Giants, 4 vs. Pirates, 3 vs. D'backs) on paper, the braves have the easiest schedule the rest of the way, but you never know in the last week of the season.
  9. this just coming out from the espn wire: bobby cox is retiring after next season. i personally think bobby should be gone after this year. he has been a great manager, gave us that 14 year run and a world series, but he has lost it the past few years. he probably cost us the playoffs with the screw ups in just the last month, with overworking/mismanaging the pen, not letting hansen starting the ninth in houston, bad starting lineups, etc. i would really like to remember him for the great times instead of these last few years where he has lost it and retire gracefully. The Atlanta Braves say Bobby Cox will retire as manager after the 2010 season. The team says Cox agreed to a one-year contract extension for 2010, then will start a five-year consulting agreement to advise the team in baseball operations. Cox managed the Braves from 1978-81, switched to manage the Toronto Blue Jays from 1982-85, then returned to manage Atlanta in 1990. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-braves-cox&prov=ap&type=lgns
  10. as an outsider looking in, i like teal, it makes the marlins stand out in the endless shades of blues and reds everyone wears. i wouldn't want to see the marlins color scheme to become blah like the rest of them. orange would make it worse, i'll puke if they go with orange and blue.
  11. astros are now offically eliminated from the playoffs, and now they eliminated their manager. third base coach dave clark will take over as manager and could become the permanent manager next year. HOUSTON (AP)—The Houston Astros have fired manager Cecil Cooper. The Astros are 70-79 and have lost seven straight games. Third-base coach Dave Clark will take over as interim manager for the final 13 games this season. The 59-year-old Cooper was hired on Aug. 27, 2007, to replace Phil Garner. Houston went 171-170 under Cooper, who was the bench coach under Garner between 2005-07. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-astros-cooper&prov=ap&type=lgns
  12. just read that mike hampton will be missing the 2010 season due to left shoulder damage, including a torn rotator cuff. i'm kinda glad we (braves) didn't resign him after his awful contract was up after last year. i'm starting to think he was on steroids. HOUSTON (AP)—Oft-injured Houston Astros pitcher Mike Hampton(notes) is already out for next year. Hampton has undergone surgery for a torn left rotator cuff and other damage in his shoulder that will sideline him for the 2010 season, the team said Tuesday. The 37-year-old lefty was 7-10 with a 5.30 ERA in 112 innings over 21 starts this season, his most in a year since making 29 starts in 2004 with Atlanta. Hampton is 148-115 lifetime with a 4.07 ERA in 2,264 career innings despite spending considerable time on the disabled list with groin, calf, back and forearm problems. Hampton left a game on Aug. 13 at Florida after five innings because of pain in his shoulder. He went on the disabled list the next day, and decided about two weeks later to have the surgery. “It’s amazing that the guy was able to pitch this year, Astros manager Cecil Cooper said in Cincinnati. “It saddens me to think he had that tear in there. I think if anybody can bounce back, it’s Mike. He’s done that a lot. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-astros-hampton&prov=ap&type=lgns
  13. Alright, got 20/20 on the signs and 14/20 on the road rules the first time. So I failed it I should of passed, but there were really obscure rules I missed. And all I needed was 15 to pass. Retook it today and I didnt have to retake the signs part which was nice. And got 19/20 on the road rules the second time around. Now I have to wait until they mail me a certificate and I have to go down to the DMV and wait in line for a couple of hours to get my picture taken. Also, they can randomly test you to make sure you parents didn't help you. My mom will have to sign an affadavit saying I didn't cheat. Serious stuff congrats.
  14. it's gator fan chipper jones up with the bases loaded...and everyone advances one base.
  15. I agree, it has to be Smoltz in 96, the year his 24 wins stole the Cy Young from Brown. what's the question?
  16. the food looks yummy...i wish i could grab the food right off the tv.
  17. btw, chipper is out of the lineup tonight. prado at third in his place. i bet he got tired. :banghead stupid bounce.
  18. the things now say it's going to be a depression by the time it gets here...will it strengthen again?
  19. hey, rab, can you make us a tim hudson rebuilt and ready graphic like you did for jj? (just kidding, i know you won't do it, but it was a nice try). let's see how he does coming out of tj surgery (i don't think he will be any good tonight, i say 2 ip, 6 er).
  20. did anyone catch the part where the would say "his name is matt diaz" if diaz was a marlin? too bad diaz hates the fish. thought that was funny. and did rich just say what i thought i said? He hates the Marlins? Why? Probably something to do with his FSU ties. he lived in tampa bay in 1992-ish and the giants were getting ready to move to the trop, but hyzinga blocked the move as impeding on marlins area, so the giants couldn't move, and because the area was denied a team, he hated the marlins. for a while, he was a marlin killer.

  22. jj vs. kk. this should be interesting. big series for both teams, loser is out of the playoff race most likely.
  23. there are some really rural areas not too far from ft. lauderdale...read the book. i thought all you had to do was take an online class and pass the written test to get a learners permit...that's all i had to do.
  24. this is a good move by the rays (although i didn't think so at first, and the way they did it wasn't smart). even though they are 4.5 games out of a playoff spot, i couldn't see them making the playoffs. the team is very streaky, and just when they get hot, it's back down with them, plus they have the toughest remaining schedule in the league in terms of winning %, and they had to get really hot fast to make the playoffs, something i can't see with this team. they are missing something from last year, and that will cost them the playoffs. it was good to have a bit of a salary dump in trading kazmir (although he should be in queens), so they can keep cc and aki (his contract is up at the end of the year) for the future and get some better pitching in the farm system (pitching has hurt them the most this year). unless kazmir becomes a super-ace, this is the right move for this team.
